Reliable thai restaurant, dine in or takeaway at cheap prices

Thaila Thai is a large thai restaurant on Lygon street, Brunswick East. Because it is such a busy area with restaurants and cafes parking is often difficult, so if you live locally I would advise taking the tram to get there if you can. It was a busy Saturday night and food was average. Had Tom yam soup, it was rather bland. Satay was okay, not fantastic. The main meals were also average, poor presentation piled with heaps of vegetables. The white rice in the fried rice were clumped together and you could still taste the salt in it. Service wasn't too bad. The... More

We've never eaten in the actual restaurant but we've been ordering the takeaway for years and it's a winner every time. If u want Thai, don't look elsewhere.

Ate at this restaurant a week ago. The place is nothing to look at. Ambience very lacking but food very yummy with lovely flavours. Poor staff were run off their feet. I had to go up to the counter a couple of times because waitresses either didnt come near our table or ran past! Didn't try upstairs. That might have... More

Don't expect lavish decor but it is a more pleasant experience to dine upstairs or outside if weather permits ! Meals are reasonably priced and cooked fresh to order. Service can be a little iffy sometimes but meals come out quite quickly and remember to BYO if you'd like an alcoholic beverage ! Great choices and child friendly. Fun casual... More

Ate here last night and the food was good and plentiful (once you could get someone's attention to order it) and cheap. Friendly staff although one had a loud dummy-spit with another in the kitchen. No chilli sauce, no chopsticks, no card pay't facilities, BYO only. Be warned - it is like an echo chamber downstairs and I had to... More

Consistent, fresh, authentic, generous serves, cheap. Over look the esthetics and decor and be prepared for a taste sensation!

Stepping inside this place does conjure up images of Thailand, unfortunately right up to the point of the waitresses not having a clue what you're enjoying talking about. No, that's not true, in Thailand they understand your language less but care infinitely more. The service we received last night was nothing short of diabolical. Rude, inattentive, surly, how else could... More

Tired of Italian, rushed food of variable quality then head north to Brunswick just over Brunswick Road. There are a delightful range of restaurants with a more relaxed attitude and better value for money We selected this Thai restaurant and we're delighted with the food and the service.

WHEN YOU ARE HERE ORDER THE SLOW COOKED LAMB CURRY, please its amazing. the slow cooked lamb curry is fantastic and delicious(reduced to the point that its almost reminiscent of a rendang). The food here actually tastes like Thailand despite the fact that the head chef is from Vietnam. I would personally recommend against the salads as they are the... More
