Thank goodness it's back!

I so look forward to Spring so that Swiss Lakewood will open. I start to long for the veal that I have missed over the winter closure. Had a dear friend visiting from Palm Springs and I new how much he'd enjoy this charming place. It just so happened to be Saturday night and the specialty is... read more

As a local I hate to see this place close for the winter. Order any of the veal dishes they are sooo good. The grilled artichoke app is very yummy. Love the ambiance. I keep promising to order the prime rib sometime but i can't get away from the veal.

We got a late start out of Reno to head into Lake Tahoe than originally anticipated. So when we finally reached Lake Tahoe, checked into our B&B right down the road we were starving! Our B&B host said that at that hour Swiss Lakewood would probably be the only one open, so we quickly dashed down there. With a half... More

My husband and I returned to Swiss Lakewood to celebrate our anniversary. We talk about it every year and finally made the drive. The building has kept its traditional looks and charm without looking outdated. The food and service were exceptional. For starters we had asparagus soup and salad. My husband's entrée was rack of lamb and mine was the... More

This is a disappearing type of restaurant in Northern California, but we keep trying ones that we find. This one has a limited menu and limited open times, but is worth the trek from South Lake Tahoe. Leave plenty of time to stop and look at the great views of beautiful scenery (the southwest portion of the lake) getting there.... More

It's cozy and charming with great atmosphere. So nice to have a place like this on the west shore of Tahoe. I had been wanting to dine there for years and finally got the opportunity. I had the Veal Emince which had mushrooms in a cream sauce with homemade Spaetzle. Very delicious and quite tasty. The cocktails were quite ample... More

To echo what other reviewers have said: a very charming swiss chalet setting, reminds one of being in Europe. They have very good weiner schnitzel and their medallions of veal in a rich creamy mushroom sauce will score points with your cholesterol, but oh so good. There tends to be many regulars frequenting this restaurant, which to me is a... More

My husband and I have been coming to The Swiss Lakewood for more than thirty years. It is housed in an absolutely charming Swiss chalet, complete with large stone fireplace and roaring fire. This restaurant has been operating on the lake for more than fifty five years. It has undergone a few ownership changes over the years. Albert and Helga... More
