One of the Finest Restaurant in Hermosa Beach

I dined at Chef Melba's last night. She serves the best seafood around. One of the specials was paella. I asked our marvelous waiter if I could have it with fish that was lower in mercury since I had high mercury problems in the past. (It was a nightmare and took a year of detoxifying heavy... read more

This little neighborhood restaurant serves delicious food, cooked in the open kitchen by Chef Melba herself. The menu offers a nice variety of dishes and all our meals were prepared perfectly with interesting flavors and seasoning. She stopped by every table to thank the guests. (And it just happened to be her birthday, so cakes were shared with all!) Will... More

Arriving on this winter night, we had high expectations. But we learned quickly this restaurant is as if friends got together to open a restaurant and did not have the slightest idea what they are doing. The very tiny restaurant was packed, so if you must dine here, please have a reservation. Tables are on top of each other and... More

We have been here twice. The first time we loved it so much (great food, great service, lovely ambience for a neighborhood bistro) we returned a month later. Sadly, our second time there the food was uninspired, and the service was lousy. We were SO disappointed. I would like to say we would return to give it another try, but... More

What a find-- Great service & Excellent food, will be returning. Last minute date night; surprised that it was not crowded on a weekday. Small restaurant with genuinely nice service. Wine bottle is so reasonably priced. The quality of the ingredients is excellent. I like that there is no excessive use of butter and salt on all the dishes. All... More

Located within 50 yards of the Pier Plaza, the restaurant is very conveniently placed. This small bistro appears to have a staff of only three - Chef Melba and an assistant in the open-to-view kitchen and a waitress and they work as a well coordinated team. Kristy who took our orders offered helpful explanations of several of the dishes. Hermosa... More

I have heard about this restaurant for awhile. I am glad I was finally able to eat there. My poached pear salad was very good. Also our main course was yummy. Topping it off with the chocolate bag dessert made for a memorable evening.

Small, friendly unpretentious with excellent cooking. You van chitter-chatter away with the other diners. A very mellowing experience.

We visited with our adult son in late September. We had a delicious meal, even splurged on appetizers. Two of us are gluten- and dairy-free, and Chef Melba made it very easy for us to eat without any worries. This is a small, intimate restaurant; you can see Chef Melba at work! While service was very good, because of the... More

From the moment we walked and our rather brusque waitress introduced herself we got a bad feeling about the night ahead. This was a real shame because the quality of the service really let it down. I appreciate life in the fast lane but when you are out for dinner on a Saturday night you want to enjoy the evening.... More
