Good Food and a good price

I had the Bodega Wild King Salmon and I thought it was excellent. The service was fast and friendly and my date and I both liked the atmosphere. A very nice dining experience.

We are locals in Healdsburg but had not been to Mateo's. Most of our neighbors had been once and said it was not what you expect. It's definitely not Mexican. The cocktails (margaritas for us all around, including some specialty) were weak and watery. One in our party ordered the lamb enchiladas and two others shared the special Pig Roast... More

Since we live in Wine Country, we were looking for a restaurant a little different then the usual Wine Country cuisine and were happy to find them. We enjoyed a refreshing ceviche and a great Cochinita Pibil (slow cooked marinated pork). Plus, I even discovered Valdez Pinot Noir, which they were serving by the glass that night.

Mateos was recommended to us by some family who live in Santa Rosa and we weren't disappointed. The staff were friendly and the food was fresh and unique. We are really glad we got experience this place.

Live part time in area and have enjoyed Mateo's food truck at the Healdsburg market - finally got around to visiting the restaurant. First reservation taken by new bartender turned out, at the last minute, for a night they are closed. Gave it another chance but what a disappointment! Food/service and value all very poor. Crispy oysters (4) were one... More

We had dined here for lunch 3 years ago and were looking forward to visiting again for dinner. Well, we were surprised that the menu was a total disappointment. It isn't any type of Mexican food we've had in the States or in Mexico. 6 guests seated at an adjoining table left after looking at the menu, we should have.... More

Great indoor & outdoor seating. Dishes are all unique, ask questions if you're not sure about a dish, the servers all seem exceptionally knowledgeable.

We got to meet Mateo, the chef/owner as his restaurant was our first stop during the Wine Country Walking Tour we were on. We were so enamored by his passion for quality food, that we decided to dine there that evening. He recognized us when we returned and made sure that our meal was a true

The evening I went to dinner, the restaurant had only 6 tables occupied. It was not busy. It was a rather cool evening and they had the main doors, front and back, open and it was Cold. I ordered the Ceviche and the Black Cod. The fish in the Ceviche was very fresh and meaty and a delight. The adornments... More

I enjoyed one of their specials (tamal) and a strawberry agua fresca. I found both to be fresh and satisfying. The agua fresca was different from your ordinary, but still like it. The portions are just enough and the food is beautifully presented. They source their ingredients locally, which is something I like to see done. They have a great... More
