Been one of my favorite places to go for over 15years and never been disappointed. Started bringing my family and coworkers here. Would recommend it to everyone. Authentic from the bomb Chile relleno burrito any day of the week, to the caldo De camaron on a cold day.

We received a recommendation from a local to eat here. The food was good, but not as great as some of our Southern California Mexican restaurants, but we are spoiled. You order at the counter, the service was friendly, the place was clean, and a local favorite.

Last Saturday, for an informal post-wedding dinner, my wife and I decided we'd invite everybody to meet up in Healdsburg Square and then wander over to El Sombrero. She and I have eaten there many times before, but usually with only the two of us or a couple of others. The restaurant is just south of the square and has... More

We stopped in on a recommendation of a friend and it was really good Mexican food. It is a bit different, you stand in line, grab a drink and order and pay the gal at the counter. It is seat yourself after that, but they had no trouble keeping orders straight! The staff were all Mexican, so the food tasted,... More

You are not getting the best the town has to offer but it's reasonably priced,(try Taquaria Guadalajara at the South end of town across from McDonald's) filling and efficient- my biggest complaint with them as with other venues of this sort- FRY YOUR OWN FREAKING CHIPS- they're like fries it's way cheaper to do your own . . . .... This was a spur of the moment choice. It seems more for locals then tourists. As a Californian who loves Mexican food I wasn't overly impressed, but the price was good.

I do takeout here a lot--very good, authentic Mexican at pretty good prices. Sit down is nice too, they have an attractive interior if you want to eat in. This is a good alternative to the more expensive, upscale, downtown Healdsburg restaurants.

My partner and I spent a lot of time looking into the "Mexican" Restaurants while visiting Healdsburg Plaza. We were hungry and looking for a "hole-in-the-wall" Mexican cafe and was delighted to find El Sombrero. I didn't mind going to the counter to order. The menu was not large but since we only wanted cheese enchiladas, it was perfect for... More

This was the last restaurant we visited during our most recent trip to Healdsburg. Good thing too, because if we had gone there first, it might have been the only one we tried the whole trip! Good, authentic Mexican food at an economical price - the latter being hard to find in downtown Healdsburg! After many small plates and other,... More

In a recent article in our local paper, a prominent chef of a high-tone restaurant said this was his favorite Mexican eatery in town. I've eaten at all of them and had settled on El Taco Grande as by far the best, but it had been a long time...so I retried El Sombrero. You order standing up, get a table... More
