Some of the best Japanese food around. Very authentic. Be sure to try the baked scallops and Joey's special roll. I love to go to Wakamatsu when I'm feeling beaten down. I ALWAYS leave feeling good. The food is great, the vibe is better. In 15 years, I've never left disappointed. I can't begin to tell you how special this... More

Wakamatsu is the only Japanese-owned restaurant in the area. (I only know others in Oakland or Newark.) No 'designer sushi' here. Just great Japanese food.

Of the 5 restaurants in downtown Hayward serving Japanese food, Wakamatsu is my favorite. It is a mom & pop shop where Joey, the sushi chef, greets you as you enter and Emiko takes your order. My favorite lunch is the Sushi Lunch Special (CA roll with sushi) and red bean ice cream. The restaurant is popular with Japanese students... More

One of the best sushi places in Hayward. I love this place, it is like eating with family. Sure, it is not the prettiest sushi in the world, but it is some of the best tasting. This place has been around for over 20 years, and once you taste their food you will know why!

I really enjoy visiting wakamatsu! The food is always fresh and good. The service is good and very friendly. I love visiting and if you can get a seat at the bar area the sushi chef is friendly and entertaining as well. Visit if you have the chance!

This place is fun to eat at. And the food is pretty good, too.
