Great lunch spot with a fantastic view

Great lunch! The food was so fresh and delicious, and the view was amazing. We watched a group of sea lions play while we had lunch. The place is a bit packed together and noisy, but I was not looking for a quiet ocean view place. It was very family friendly and a wonderful afternoon place for good... read more

Right on the road so easy access. Menu is so dull - predictable and average. If you order the seafood risotto it is ok but too much for 1 person. Chowder was ok but really not remarkable so if you are looking for that authentic and fresh seafood experience, this is not the place. Positive is that there is outside... More

A friend was in charge of lunch reservations on our trip down the coast from San Francisco to Santa Cruz. Sam's Chowder Hosue in half Moon Bay, CA was her choice. We were each delighted with our lunch picks...a smoked salmon salad for her, and the local rock cod for me. The cod was pure ecstasy, with its creamy leek... More

I can't believe that people are giving 5 stars to this sandwich and NBC says that this is the best sandwich in America!....lobster was overcooked, chewy, and the bread was the worst part. Don't waste your time and money ($23,50) on this sandwich. The clam chowder was ok. Service was nice and friendly.

The place is popular and packed. Make a reservation and still get there early (like 20 minutes before they open) if you want a nice seat on the patio or a place to park. Otherwise you may be in for a wait. The reason for that is the location overlooking Pillar Point Harbor harbor and Half Moon Bay as well... More

Sam's is always crowded due to location and view. However, the food is just so-so and the service can be hit and miss. So, I've been there when it's great all around and I've been there when it was very poor all around. Some feedback on "live" entertainment. If you have a noisy restaurant and a less than ideal for... The food was definitely edible, as was the overpriced and much-touted $25 Lobster Roll sandwich, which was good but not great. The parking lot was horrendous as there were probably 200 cars driving round and round, trying to find a place. We ended up parking on the side of the busy highway, as did the rest of the 200 cars.... More

My favorite is the Poki and Crab Louie salad. I'm not fond of thick chowder, so theirs is not my favorite. Some folks rave about the lobster roll...go to Maine for one of these! The best feature is the view. On a nice day or on a foggy day, you can sip a Bloody Mary while sitting on the outside... More

The Lobster appetizer is so delicious! We ordered the paella for two and it's loaded with seafood! Hmm hmm good! If you want seafood, this is the place. The waiters are very courteous and helpful.

So they claim (as per NBC) that this lobster roll is one of the top five sandwiches in the nation. Por favor. It's really kind of nasty. Lobster was probably leftovers. Rubbery and not much flavor. The bun was either stale or soaked in something that made it super soggy. My wife and I split one and didn't even finish... More
