The first day driving up Pacific coast highway 1 we spotted Sam's Chowder House, it was about 1:30pm so in most cases it was past lunch time. There was not a single spot to park and every aisle had someone perched there in their car waiting to grab a parking spot, we got boxed in at one point and got... More

The beet salad was awesome and the clam chowder was really good. The lobster roll was awful! It was cold, stringy and not worth eating let alone $22. The waitress was great and said she was sorry she didn't know sooner. He would have brought us some melted butter which would have only added insult to injury. Not inexpensive. The... More

Sam's is an "experience." The owners have done a great job of marketing themselves to the City and Bayside, but there is better seafood on the Coastside. Sam's is always packed, reminding me of Yogi Berra: "nobody goes there any more it is too crowded." The food is very good, the service is very good, But it is more of... More

As a local we dine here often. It's situated right in the harbor and has great views. There is seating inside and outside on a heated patio. Weekends you will find live music. The food is good and not too expensive for a seafood restaurant. You will find something for even those that don't do seafood. The clam chowder is... More

A bit overpriced, but the food is good. I went there with nephew and his wife. I lived in Half Moon Bay, but only went there once because it is so crowded. Meza Luna is better.

Having flown from the UK, via Canada, with Sam's lobster sandwich as a primary objective of our California visit, they had a lot to live up to! We were being taken there for a birthday bash for our friend who had been before and flew from France for this visit, so no surprise that we experienced quite a treat. The... More

Sam's Chowder House was recommended locally and it certainly did not disappoint. The fish was so fresh that I cleared my plate-Delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals of lobster rolls, calamari and prawns. We had the Fisherman's Plate to start with which was ideal for four of us for starters. The lime cheesecake was a delightful ending to a scrumptous meal.... More

Reluctantly stopped here just because it seemed so "roadside" in appearance from the outside, but was very pleased with the space and the food was very good. Regular fare but well prepared and generous serving. A bit pricey but not to the point of concern. Friendly service and nice patio for a sunny day.

We celebrated my friend's father's 82nd birthday at this Oceanside restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful ocean views from the dining area and the outside patio. Excellent fire pits on the wrap around patio/porch for a sunset dining . Good for s'mores. However service was good but the food not as much as advertised. They suppose to have... More

This is a busy place - even on a Monday evening. Once you get your food you realize why, it really is very good. The chowder is as good as they claim and our fish was fresh and very well prepared.
