Traveling north to San Francisco keep going until you get to Half Moon Bay then look to the left on the ocean side of Highway 1 for Sam's Chowder House. They specialize in unique sea food dishes, the New England Clam Chowder is great, served in really big bowls and somewhat normal bowls. The have a "Lobster Roll" which is... More

The view of the restaurant did not disappoint. We sat outside and loved being able to look over the water. Our server was attentive and we enjoyed some bread while waiting for the meal. Was very glad to have tried the tuna poke. Nice pieces of tuna and good flavor. However, for the price and taste, I would pass on... More

My husband and I had stopped off in San Francisco on a roadtrip on the West Coast and were recommended to visit Sam's Chowder House - we turned up at 8:30 on a Saturday night and, based on the full car park and the road outside full of parked cars, we expected to be turned away (the last seating is 9:30),... The food was quite good, the service was good too...but the location made the lunch an "activity"! We would return, for sure!

We have been looking forward to our dinner at Sam's but left disappointed. My clam chowder was tasty but was full of cubed potatoes and a few pieces of clams! Our lobster rolls were stuffed with nice sized lobster chunks.... BUT was tough & bland. Needed to ask for butter to drizzle on the roll so it would have a... More

Location, location, location. Right on the beach with unobstructed views the marina and the ocean. Reservations are required because it is so popular with good reason. The service and the food was remarkable.

The best clam chowder overlooking the ocean. Can't ask for anything more out of lunch on a Saturday!

My daughter in law while here with the family from Wyoming, wanted to eat at a restaurant she said had great reviews. Sam's chowder House in the Half Moon Bay area of the coast. I grew up down that way and know the area well. The food was terrible, A seafood restaurant that did NOT HAVE CRAB. Extreammmmmly expensive, my... More

Best place for fresh seafood in Half Moon Bay. It's right on the water. The quality and freshness of the seafood is unbeatable. Long waits, esp on the weekend. The lobster roll is voted one of the best sandwiches in the country! It was huge, fresh and had almost an entire lobster in one sandwich. $22 for the sandwich *but*... More
