As a local we dine here often. It's situated right in the harbor and has great views. There is seating inside and outside on a heated patio. Weekends you will find live music. The food is good and not too expensive for a seafood restaurant. You will find something for even those that don't do seafood. The clam chowder is... More

A bit overpriced, but the food is good. I went there with nephew and his wife. I lived in Half Moon Bay, but only went there once because it is so crowded. Meza Luna is better.

Having flown from the UK, via Canada, with Sam's lobster sandwich as a primary objective of our California visit, they had a lot to live up to! We were being taken there for a birthday bash for our friend who had been before and flew from France for this visit, so no surprise that we experienced quite a treat. The... More

Sam's Chowder House was recommended locally and it certainly did not disappoint. The fish was so fresh that I cleared my plate-Delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals of lobster rolls, calamari and prawns. We had the Fisherman's Plate to start with which was ideal for four of us for starters. The lime cheesecake was a delightful ending to a scrumptous meal.... More

Reluctantly stopped here just because it seemed so "roadside" in appearance from the outside, but was very pleased with the space and the food was very good. Regular fare but well prepared and generous serving. A bit pricey but not to the point of concern. Friendly service and nice patio for a sunny day.

We celebrated my friend's father's 82nd birthday at this Oceanside restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful ocean views from the dining area and the outside patio. Excellent fire pits on the wrap around patio/porch for a sunset dining . Good for s'mores. However service was good but the food not as much as advertised. They suppose to have... More

This is a busy place - even on a Monday evening. Once you get your food you realize why, it really is very good. The chowder is as good as they claim and our fish was fresh and very well prepared.

My husband and I tried Sam's Chowder House because of the reviews we read on Tripadvisor. We were not happy at all. The service was good, however we ordered a calimari appetizer, 2 beers, two bowls of chowder and split the seafood combo entre. The bill was $75 but the food was like Long John Silvers and Joe's Crab Shack....our... More

We went here as it was highly rated and we were disappointed in the food. The "enormous crab cakes" as the waitress put it were only the size of a hockey puck and very fatty, and most of the plate was French fries. The rest of the food was also pretty fatty. Once we finished our meals our plates sat... More

Very good! My kids love it. It has great ocean views and outside seating. Soups are very good and seafood is great! I will come here every time I visit Half Moon bay
