Good enough but could be better

If you can get past the smell -- and we almost didn't stay because of the overpowering fried-fish-oil that smacked us in the face at the door -- the food's not bad. Lots of locals, not much in the way of décor, but the fish and chips were good. They need to work on the exhaust fans or change the... read more

Stopped in for lunch with family during recent stay in Half Moon Bay. Loved the salmon and scallop tacos. Wasn't very busy as we arrived early for lunch but service was very good. Would certainly recommend to anyone who has an opportunity to visit the area and looking for good food.

A great find! Will definitely go back when in the area. Great selection of food for all, not just fish dishes. We had great appetizers and cocktails. I loved the crab cakes and Mahi fish taco! I shared some of my daughter's steak which was very good. My son had a specialty called something like ciapano. My wife liked her... More

First, the sign that told us to go back to the patio to enter was sitting against the wall so couldn't tell if it was current. Problem is, my parents are elderly and very slow so it made a difference in how long it took us to get there. Secondly, given they were moving so slow, the girl at the... More

Drove 2 hours to eat at this restaurant. It was affordable and the food was fabulous. For a family of 5 with drinks included, we were able to eat in under $90.00. We had the calamari as an appetizer, which was extremely tasteful and cooked just perfect. For our entrees, my son in law and I both had the fish and... More

My husband and I had dinner at Flying Fish Grill based on good reviews in Trip Advisor, but our experience was mixed. As several people recommended, we had the crabby cheese bread--it was delicious but expensive. The Boston chowder tasted good but the fish tacos (one of us got salmon and the other mahi) were nothing special in either flavor... More

We stopped here after having been to the Hwy 1 Brewery (where they forgot to place our food order.....). Turned out to be a blessing in disguise because the food here is delicious. We shared 2 appetizers (the Ceviche and the Tuna Poke) and the Jeaux Special for our entree. Everything tasted really fresh, and the flavors/seasoning of everything was... More

We arrived in Half Moon Bay around 8:00 pm during a trip up the coast. We had picked out Flying Fish in advance based on the great reviews here. The food was excellent. I had the salmon tostada and it was fresh and delicious! We shared a slice of pie for dessert. Our server, Elizabeth was very friendly and provided... More

Stopped here for an early dinner one evening. There were only two or three other tables occupied, while the bar area was quite busy. Service was a little sketchy as we had to ask our server several times for water, and I watched my cioppino make a tour of the restaurant-bar area before it eventually made it to our table.... More

We stopped here for lunch, the clam chowder was great! Everyone's meal was very good, the calamari platter was excellent, light batter and very tender. Lots of variety with seafood, sandwiches and salads. Good prices, great value for a seafood restaurant. We will be back.
