Small but nice

We had not eaten at Barbara's because it was always packed. It is one of several places to eat near where we stay in this area. Our last evening there, we lucked out and got in to Barbara's after a short wait. It is small place. Staff was very helpful answering questions. I chose the Clam Chowder... read more

Our friends wanted to go to this place for the "Fish and Chips". First we were seated at a too small table for four people. The waiter then knocked over a glass of water. The service was extremely slow. Our clam-chowder came after our entrees and it was cold, has no taste of clams and was more like watered down potato... More

If you want good seafood without fancy decor, this is the place to go. If you plan to indulge yourself I would recommend having one of their fried items. It is definitely worth the calories. Reminder ... They only accept cash

Barbara's is casual, friendly and always packed. The locals like us crave the food here as much as the tourists who pour in on the weekends. Eating in the dining room can be claustrophobic, but sit outside on the porch and enjoy a leisurely meal. Mainly seafood, the menu offers something for everyone, and their desserts are not to be... Initially We walked in and walked right out. It's what you would consider a hole in the wall. They only accept cash. But as we were leaving a man stopped us and said we should reconsider because the food is really excellent! I asked for recommendations he said the clam chowder is the best , plus several other dishes. So... More

Highly recommend this relaxed and very popular restaurant overlooking the port. A great selection of fresh fish dishes and adaptable to dietary requirements. Also good selection of wines/beers.

My wife and I stopped in at Barbara's on our first day in the Half Moon area. I was a bit unsure about where to stop for lunch so relied on what place looked the busiest! Barbara's did not disappoint. We had to wait about 20 minutes or so for a table inside where we were seated at a window... More

The seafood was super fresh, but fairly pricey given the casual, no-frills atmosphere and service. Get there early, and remember cash (no credit cards!).

Very busy restaurant. Has parking lot across the street but filled up early. Parking available further down street. While the seafood is very fresh, its "tempura" is not the Japanese style light batter but just plain deep fried breaded seafood. Fried vegetable was fresh. Coleslaw was cut very coarse. It was not very tasty. Had also clam chowder in bread... More

The reviews looked good. Huge letdown. Had the Dungeness crab salad sandwich for $19 and it was tasteless. The crab was without flavor and I questioned if it was packaged crab. The chowder wasn't very good either. Great location but the food wasn't very good.
