We were hungry enroute to Yosemite from Sacramento.

It had been such a long day. As we approached Groveland, we were drawn to this bar restaurant by the facade. We thought it looked like a great place to have our first California food experience as we continued our road trip to Yosemite. We were pleased with our choice since we enjoy casual... read more

The entire place is in general disrepair. The dining areas are not as clean as they should be. Partiularly the tables near the bar are dirty and the floor around them is sticky and dirty. I'm completely grossed out by the dollar bills stuck to the ceiling. Its a historical tradition here and so there are literally 50 plus years... More

Made two visits to this place during a stay in the area. First visit was a beer only, and the one waitress was a bit overwhelmed. After waiting 15 minutes, we walked to the bar to order our beer. Slightly annoying, but it's a small town bar..and tourist traffic can spool up without warning. Second visit was for my wife's... More

I had been to this saloon many years ago, and then again a few weeks ago. Both times were enjoyable. It's romantic in a rustic, historical sort of way and a lot of fun, interesting and decent food. I look forward to my next adventure in Groveland, and I will definitely stop here for a meal again.

Stopped in for drinks and a snack. Advertised as the oldest and first Saloon in California, this place reeked of history, old photo's and a

The Iron Door is a cool place to visit with legitimate historical value. It is also is more of a dive/neighborhood bar than a tourist destination. The food is decent. The service is easily overwhelmed (at least in the off-season when we were there). Stick with the basic burger, and have a beer, and you'll be satisfied. The historical ambience... More

I loved this place the food was awesome the fries, onion rings and burgers were to die for!! We also order 2 orders of Buffalo wings fresh out of the deep frier flavor. They also gave us an extra order of their amazing french fries. I was so impressed with our waitress she was friendly and helpful and treated us... More

Bar food and not at its best. If you don't eat beef don't eat here. The chicken sandwich was without taste - served on a hamburger bun with one slice of a small tomato, one pickle chip and lettuce. I had the one trip salad bar instead of the french fries and enjoyed that. My guy had the egg rolls... More

Our steak was amazing. We actually went back on our third night in town and had the ribeye again! The service was also outstanding -- server gave us tips about local sights and things to see on our travels. We were on a first name basis by the time we left town. Only complaint is there's no ice cream in... More

Friendly service, nice food and beers in an absolutely non fashion place. Most of the customers are local people.
