Great peek at history of the area, best burgers around

The Saloon is filled with memorabilia of the area. Their burgers are excellent, as are the fish and chips. The staff are always welcoming and friendly. The "downside" is it no ADA compliant and it tends to be cold in the winter. Get your dollar to stick to the ceiling and join us for the annual... read more

Went in there for lunch on the way to Groveland and it was so interesting! The food was typical bar food but delicious nonetheless. There is a jukebox where you can play whatever music you want. It is the oldest bar in California apparently with dollars on the ceiling and a cool backstory. All of the staff was very friendly... More

We were in Groveland for four nights, and spent two of them at the Iron Door Saloon. It's friendly, charming at,ops here where you can actually meet locals as well as tourists is lovely. It's an old place that's been loved and seen a few things. Rightly the owners haven't tried to hide that, but if you want silver service,... More

We stopped in for the history of the bar and then had lunch. We didn't eat in the bar area but I would if I could as the ambiance there is better than the rest of the restaurant. But the food was decent... a little pricey... but it's a small town.

We stopped off at Groveland on our way to Yosemite. We had a walk around and saw the lovely old buildings then popped into the Iron Door for a drink. The very friendly woman behind the bar explained that the reason there are dollar bills in the ceiling dates back to an old gold prospecting tradition where they would put... More

This bar claims to be the oldest in California and it's a fun place to see. We were there on an evening in November and it was freezing cold, even with our coats on. We went to watch a football game but the jukebox was so loud we couldn't hear anything. The service is friendly and so are the customers... More

We had breakfast in the grill part and it was typical breakfast. It was good, but not fantastic. The saloon part (we peeked in) looked interesting.

Famous historic saloon in Groveland. Stop in for lunch, but don't stay too long. It gets rough at night.
