We walked in and was sat by the stage. It's supposedly the oldest saloon in California and it looks it. The floors have loose laminate tiles and are scattered about in no particular order. The decor is caked with dust, dollar bills and staples are everywhere! Some of the bills are crusty brown from back when smoking was still legal.... More

I like visiting old historic saloons every opportunity I can, so when I accidentally found the Iron Door Saloon on my way to Yosemite, it was like discovering gold for me. How a great place like this can remain relatively unknown considering that it is the oldest continuously operating saloon in California (since 1852) is a mystery to me. The... More

We was staying in Groveland for 4 nights as we explored Yosemite. Came here every night for a late meal - and were never disappointed. This pub/saloon, like the rest of Groveland, has a long history and it's been decorated inside with a whole bunch of memorabilia to give it a special character. (See pics) There must be $1,000 stuck... More

We had decent food, great burgers. Lovely staff. VERY slow and by the time our kids got their ice cream deserts they were entirely melted. No exageration. They were ice cream soup. One drank his down. But we had a good time anyway and you come for the place.

Great place for a cool beer (or local cider) and some local color. Staff is friendly and helpful and the local band that played at night was awesome. Great place to party!

Saturday morning and they were open early. A plus as we needed to get into Yosemite to see what we could before noon. The food portion as large and cooked exactly as ordered. Nothing was greasy or dry. I like hard scramble for my eggs and I mostly get dry eggs - not here! Perfect hard scramble!! The coffee was... More

There are not a ton of options but this place is decent. The food was good and they can bring you a bloody Mary from the bar next door if you are inclined. If you are going here, there is parking across the street behind the buildings which is convenient as street parking can be hard to find.

Wanna get a cool beer at a great place, then the Iron Door is for you. The oldest bar in California, as well as west of the Mississippi, this is the place to go. Great atmosphere, and history. A "must do" place to get a cool brew!

We stopped here for drinks & food during our trip to Yosemite National Park. We should have just had drinks and not eaten any food. The waitress did not know what was available on tap and she forgot to place one of our food orders. I am glad that she forgot otherwise we might have ended up with another bad... More
