Typical place

Real funny place, typical saloon that offers american food in a friendly environment. There was also live music during the dinner (country!).

We were staying at Groveland and walked into the Iron Door Saloon for a meal and drinks. We left 4 hours later after a wonderful night listening to a crowd of local people playing guitars and singing. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The food was well cooked and the beer was great. The whole experience after a day in... More

We ate at the grill, the food was fresh and hot. I had the Buffalo Burger, which was very tasty. We decided to check out the Saloon. It was built in 1852, and had the original iron doors. Inside was very interesting, with dollar bills stuck to the ceiling. Lots of pictures on the wall with the history.

We only stopped for a drink but in the end we had our dinner too at the bar. The saloon is filled with old hunting trophies and just the decoration is worth stopping and it will give you many opportunities to discover new things. The beer selection was what you expect from a saloon. My buffalo wings were good, very... More

We liked this place so much, it's the only place where we hung out/ate dinner 3 nights in a row. When we arrived in town to get our keys to our property, we heard a very loud "party" happening nearby and found this place packed and jamming. We had so much fun the first night, we came back for dinner... More

This is a fun town, but unless I'm going to be spending some significant time in Yosemite, it's a pretty small place. Iron Door was FUN, with all these big game trophies on the walls, and history all over the place. Mediocre food, however. I will say, I got a beer comped for being a member of the US military,... Fun place to grab a beer and see the history! The food was just okay, but priced moderately for burgers and munchies. It was busy the night we were there and they were way understaffed so service was poor, but not the wait staff fault.

Whenever we stay at the Groveland Hotel on our way up to raft the Tuolomne River, our tradition is to dine at the Hotel, then stroll over to the Iron Door, California's oldest saloon, for a beer and to shoot some pool. This place is venerable, memorable and a hoot beyond words. Music blares, Kareoke is rampant, and the fantastic... More
