Visited this place in September last year. There's a nice atmosphere with all this Wild West stuff. Friendly staff and a few friendly locals (a few more were neutral ;) ). But the place was also a bit overpriced. AFAIR they had a good choice of local beer... or maybe it was some another pub, somewhere else? Not sure :)... more

So it's a bit overpriced for a burger and beer, but it's got charm. Stuffed animals cover the walls. Dollar bills are attached to the ceiling along with a disco ball. Good times. Grab a bite before heading into Yosemite or on the way out. more

There aren't many dining options in Groveland, and the Iron Door should probably be your last choice. It looks to be an interesting place and may have been at one time, but now is just another bottom feeder on the tourists passing through. You know the kind. They assume very few customers are a potential for repeat so they price... more

We went to Iron Door Saloon on 10/21/2006 on our way from Yosemite and ordered some appetizers at the bar. It's a fun place, we really liked it. Appetizers and service were pretty good. We closed our tab and after that decided to have another round of drinks. Our drinks were served by a different barman. We put a 20... more

Cold beer, cold wine, fun bar atmosphere (with a few locals who've had a few too many. Neat history. Friendly service, though not too fast. Good parts of our dinner for six included sweet potato fries, garlic soup, and pasta dishes (portabella ravioli and shrimp with spaghetti). Burgers are overpriced and mediocre, as were the undercooked fries that accompanied them. more

My husband and I ate at the Iron Door Grill one night after a day spent in Yosemite. We ordered the calimari and we each ordered a hamburger. The calimari was good, but the burgers were a disappoinment. They were both over $10 and when they arrived, we had to search for them in the bun! For that price I... more

The host at our hotel just outside of town recommended we stop in here, so we did. We had such a great time! The food was excellent, and we had a fun time with the staff too. We were treated like family! It was bizarre to enjoy San Francisco calibre food in the middle of the mountains. more

My Wife and I went to eat here on the recommendation of the inn we were staying at. What a mistake!! First of all we went in and were told that the dining room was closed (apparently for the winter) and we would have to eat in the lounge. We decided to go ahead and sat at a booth. Lounge... more

We stopped and ate lunch here on our way to the Evergreen Lodge. Don't bother. Go across the street and go to the Mexican restaraunt next to the Charolette, which has great food and reasonable prices. I had a French dip and my husband had the Iron Door cheesesteak, both with fries. The fries tasted freezer burnt and were limp... more
