OK, so it's not really Europe, it's a killer Cuban bakery and restaurant. But in very few places in L.A. or even California can you find a superior-quality cafe packed with people with no pretention and just great food. Be warned: Porto's is BUSY. I needed a cake so I tried to order it and pay for it over the phone. I called both Portos and after many minutes waiting, I was told I need to go in person. I was told at this at the Burbank location (because I could never get through Glendale telephone system.) They both have a terrible telephone system... more

Always packed (Burbank location seems easier to navigate). Great fresh sandwiches (especially midnight sandwich), potato balls and cakes. Can laser a picture on sheet cake for special occasion (example; wedding picture for 50th anniversary). Very reasonable prices for cakes. Yummy meat pies and Cuban sandwiches. Lines are very long most lunch times, but worth the wait once you figure out how it works. Desserts are tasty too. more
