I tried this restaurant a few weeks ago with two friends. I live in Glendale, so I was looking forward to trying this fancy place for sometime. I was sadly disappointed. The good news first. The front desk staff: Friendly and down-to-earth. I was warmly greeted with smiles. I also really liked the ambiance and artsy interior design. The bad... more

Three things I look for in any restaurant that I go to is the food, the service and the presentation. The higher the bill - the higher my expectations of the above are. We dined there last night for a birthday dinner (my father in law and sister in laws). There were 5 total in our party. We were warmly... more

My wife and I and another couple ate at Palate recently. It was the second time we had been there. The restaurant opened in 2008 to a deliriously positive review in the LA Times, which normally does not take any interest in Glendale restaurants. For the most part, the food has lived up to the praise. It is interesting, creative... more

Great food and atmosphere. Portions a little small, but food is creative and meticulously prepared/plated. Definitely worth a visit. more

The Good: - extremely knowledgeable waitstaff who really know the wine list and constantly changing menu - very reasonable wine list, with 2.5oz pours that are exactly half the price of 5oz pours, so you can sample away - the prices are very reasonable for a restaurant that indulges in experimentation of this variety The Not-So-Good: - the food is... more

Oh, oh, oh. Mmmmm. I loved this place. We paid $160 for 3 of us with 2 glasses of wine per person. The location is well, on Glendale Auto Row but the food is perfect. I am picky and I loved everything. That's a first. You must have the "Porkfolio." We parked right in front but they also have valet.... more

the mason jars are great and an excellent deal. the only problem I had, was that if you are seated on the inside on the booth, you will be trapped as the tables are so close together that a table has to be pulled out in order to get up. will happily try the bar at the back the next... more

I have to say up front that I've only eaten at the wine bar at Palate. Given my experience there I might need to extend the credit line on my platinum card before I could actually eat a full dinner there. It's priced like the 4-star Water Grill in downtown L.A. but without the impeccable service and atmosphere. Palate is... more

My one experience at Palate in Glendale was disappointing. On a scale of 1-10, the service fell into the 3-4 range. In a word: slow, both for food and drinks. An appetizer plate (for 4) of cold cuts and a pate-type dish were very good. The dinners, on the other hand, had two serious problems: quantity (very small portions), and... more

If you're a wine gourmet, snob, or just plain sipper, you will undoubtably like the ambience of this restaurant. Reserve a table in the back rooms tho', as the front area of the restaurant is very ordinary and noisy. Our only complaint is that the food portions are a tad too SKIMPY. The food is great! Very tasty, but even... more
