My aunts most memorable meal!

My aunt was visiting from Michigan and I took her on a whirlwind car tour of California. I showed her all the beauty of our state, north to south, from Yosemite throughout the wine country and down through central California to the warm coasts of my homeland in Southern Callifornia. We couldn't reserve a room but wanted the small town experience on our Sonoma area visit. We settled for the Glen Ellen Inn lunch experience and weren't disappointed. I've seen on Food Channel the grilled romaine salad, so was not disappointed in its great flavor. The calamari was good but not the best we'd had. Yes, we'll return.

The food was uneven -- I had a very tiny and mediocre pear and beet salad, but the calamari was excellent. One of the other diners had the rib eye, which was excellent, while another had the salmon salad which was average. And the lobster bisque was mediocre. So...order carefully! And our server interpreted "courses" to mean, bring out items... More

Fun to try their martinis. Delicious crab dinner, plenty for sharing. Service just right. Loved the ambiance.

Great filet mignon, good salads, friendly and efficient service. We went early so it was quieter. Nice wine selection and delicious martini.

When touring some of the boutique wineries in this area, we stopped at the Glen Ellen Inn for a lunch break. The interior was surprisingly attractive, and we were welcomed and seated immediately even without a reservation. Had an excellent lunch, great value and very friendly service. I'd definitely return for dinner, prices were very reasonable given wine country location.

The last time we ate here was five years ago when we were in Glen Ellen and it's still fantastic - great martinis, unique variations on meats and seafood, cooked and served to perfection, romantic ambiance, and friendly staff. And then there's the desserts - this time we had truffles and they were amazing.

We took a break from our wine tasting tour for a lunch at this quaint wine country inn. Our lunch consisted of a 1/2 dozen oysters (Cortez, Drakes Bay, and 1 more), steamed mussels in a wonderful creamy sauce, Fish Tacos with Black Bean Salsa, a Lamb Pastrami Sandwich with Garlic Fries, an order of Crab Pot Stickers and glasses... The restaurant was the highlight of our stay at Glen Ellen Inn. A special Holiday menu was created by the Owner/Chef Chris and his wife Karen. My fiance' and I shared the Lobster Bisque and thanks to our FABULOUS waitress/bartender (Cyrstal), we also shared the crab potsticker on her recommendation. OH WOW!!! Both dishes were incredible!!!! My fiance' had the... More
