They have all the big breakfast features, done well but the portions are HUGE. It is clearly very popular, particularly with big people and people with big appetites.

Service was good. Prices fair. Many choices although I wish they had some more vegetarian options. Had to ask for water and had to ask for decaf coffee. Biscuits are HUGE square things!

We stopped here on our way to Monterey from San Francisco and had a wonderful breakfast. The Classic Bear Claw carries my highest recommendation. It may have been one of the best pastries I've ever had. The entire breakfast was delicious and our server Chelsea was super friendly and did an excellent job. May stop again in a few days... More

Black Bear, Gilroy, CA This restaurant is next door to the Best Western Plus Forest Park in Gilroy. You can walk from the motel across the parking lot to the Black Bear. No driving and crossing streets. The Black Bear servers comfort food at a reasonable price and generous amounts of food. The menus seem to be pretty consistent across... More

Cute little diner. Great food and friends service. The have a counter if you are dining alone that is nice. The desserts are awesome! If you order the fresh fruit, I am sure there is none better around. We went for breakfast and the portions are big and it is really good. Try it, I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

We ate here twice, once take-out to our nearby hotel, and once dine-in. Both times, the time from ordering to food hot and ready was very quick. Very friendly, helpful service both times. The good was delicious, great prices, and hearty portions. A great value.

I love to go here for breakfast, no lines during the week, expect a wait on the weekends. The food, especially for breakfast, is delicious and reasonably priced, especially considering the size of the servings [their "bear claw" rolls look the size of home plate.] The ambiance is "diner", with lots of pictures and sports memorabilia reflecting home town heroes... We stopped in Gilroy to shop at the outlet Mall and stumbled upon the Black Bear Diner. Down to earth restaurant that is affordable. We would stop again on the next trip through town.
