Whenever I am in the South Bay, I stop at Shinsengumi, often stopping for a bowl on my way to the hotel from LAX. It is up tempo like the other restaurants in the Shinsengumi family, and the ramen is great. You can choose your toppings, strength of the soup and how you want the noodles cooked. Save room for... Everything in the Hakata Ramen is everything that ramen should be. The ingredients are fresh, the sides, are plentiful, and the flavored egg.....its not Hakata Ramen without it!

Great place to go on those cold evenings. Noodle soups are very tasty, and service staff are very friendly.

As Hoodylay mentioned, no frill or thrills, just good food. Especially now that the weather is colder. I recommend their basic ramen (add any condiments you like) but also order a bowl of their cha han (fried rice) or musubi. As the Japanese say, Oishi (good taste).

Not the "greatest" on a Japanese standard but "more than enough" for a quick ramen lunch in Gardena. (Possible discomforts) 1) Forced to wait around 12:00. Be there early. 2) More "toppings" on ramen would not hurt. 3) Ideally, a bit more "punch (salt?) and strength" on the broth. 4) Side dishes are kind of "LA fastfood-ish" and thus I... More

If you want a dependable bowl of ramen, this is your place. No frills or thrills. Just incredible basic ramen + soup. They recently remodeled the interiors so more seating hopefully means less wait. There are always people waiting outside, so I'd recommend going immediately upon opening.

Love, love, love the ramen here - by far my favorite in Los Angeles. If you're going in the evening, be prepared to wait a while for a table. It's a very small, busy restaurant with no lobby. (You'll be waiting outside.) So I'd give it a 5 for food, but I'm knocking it down to 4 for the ambiance.

If you are craving ramen, then head to Gardena. There are many choices, but you can't go wrong with this place. The only have one kind to chose from. The pork based broth is really good. Not overly salty like some other places. One thing that makes this place unique is your ability to customize your dish - the hardness... More

The ramen here is good. The broth is delicious , but there is something about the texture or something about the actual noodles that is weird to me.... maybe the thickness? Nonetheless, the food here is very good and the price is right.
