First time for some lunch ramen. It is good enough to keep us in the neighbourhood for Ramen - no need to go further. The food and service was just as good. And I mean now. I gave this place a chance and it worked out nice! Add this place to your list at least give it a try My... More

I was worried about their ramen because of the pork broth but I was pleasantly surprised. You can select how much fat you want in your soup. You can select how much of whatever you want in your soup. The ramen was delicious. My husband doesn't like too much noodles and he was able to select half. He enjoyed his... More

Place is always busy. Not recommended for big parties, you'll wait longer. Great for solo or couples, you get seated right away. Ramen, the best in this area so far!!! A bit noisy but that's part of the cultural experience. Will always come back here, probably weekly!!!!

I love ramen, but don’t know very much about it, and had never heard of Hakata ramen when my girlfriend and I visited late one night after seeing a Cirque du Soleil show in San Pedro. Strangely enough, a couple that sat behind us at during the show walked into Shinsengumi right after we did! I know you can order... More

This is a consistently good place. food is tasty, affordable, and the atmosphere is high energy and fun! Love the ramen here. Be sure to accept their offer of a toast and maybe even buy the staff a pitcher of beers to share!! :-)

Wonderful ramen with great, flavorful broth and tasty noodles. The best part is that you can customize it how you like it. I like a lot of noodles, but did not have to order extra--was very full after a standard bowl. I would have given this 5 stars, but even at lunch it was so ridiculously loud inside that I... More

Whenever I am in the South Bay, I stop at Shinsengumi, often stopping for a bowl on my way to the hotel from LAX. It is up tempo like the other restaurants in the Shinsengumi family, and the ramen is great. You can choose your toppings, strength of the soup and how you want the noodles cooked. Save room for... Everything in the Hakata Ramen is everything that ramen should be. The ingredients are fresh, the sides, are plentiful, and the flavored egg.....its not Hakata Ramen without it!

Great place to go on those cold evenings. Noodle soups are very tasty, and service staff are very friendly.

As Hoodylay mentioned, no frill or thrills, just good food. Especially now that the weather is colder. I recommend their basic ramen (add any condiments you like) but also order a bowl of their cha han (fried rice) or musubi. As the Japanese say, Oishi (good taste).
