We had an amazing brunch here. They make everything from scratch here and source local ingredients. They even made their own bloody mary mix! We had a rueben sandwich with smoked tempeh (omg) and a delicious salad. They have a cute outdoor courtyard that was a nice place to sit. This is a tiny little town and this restaurant is... More

This feels like dining in someone's backyard under shady trees with the very best of locally grown produce, meat & seafood, artfully prepared.

Disappointed to discover they only have a brunch menu on the weekend. Good they use local foods. Prices high for the small portions. Bloody Mary awful - after 2 sips we asked for our money back. Overall the food was edible but won't go back for more. Sorry as the location is lovely.

I live in Forestville and have seen many pretenders come and go. I am happy to say we have a n extremely good restaurant in town. A wonderfully varied and inventive menu that features fresh local produce, cheese, meat and fish. If you come for no other reason come for the onion rings, onion rings you say.... YESSS. The pickle... More

First, the good: Local, fresh farm ingredients. Some unusual dishes. Good (but small) flatbreads with a variety of toppings, decent waiter service. The bad (far more of this, I'm afraid): Not a child-friendly menu (goodness, can't even order a soda here), small portions, no side-dishes (unless you order them separately, which becomes very costly), long, long wait for your meal,... Bottom line: great food. The question here is, is it worth a 2 hour 15 minute wait from seating to entree service. Again, I love the concept and when the food finally got to us, it was outstanding but the problems with service where evident from before the appetizer was served but not addressed till we were waiting for our... My brother lives in the area, so when I went to visit him, he took me to several different restaurants. The Backyard was one of my favourites. :) We had breakfast. The flavours in the omelet I had were outstanding! We had a good time chatting with the chefs and enjoying the deliciousness!

Had a wonderful experience. Everything we ordered for dinner was delicious. The flavor combinations were great. The staff was very friendly and service was pleasant. We were in no hurry and the pace of the meal was fine. I think if the restaurant provided a small token of appreciation; an amuse bouche, some kind of bread or rolls gratis or... More

Was interested in trying this place ever since they opened, but was hesitant as I was under the impression it was all about "comfort food" pork chops, fried chicken, etc.. But one evening after looking at menu online, I decided to call them and see if they have vegetarian options! They sure did! So we went that night and gave... More

Went there for dinner with a group. Wonderfully tasty locally-sourced food. Service was excellent. Good wine list, although we took our own and corkage was reasonable. Flatbread appetizer was excellent. Our group's choices ranged from a hearty soup to fresh fish, chicken pot pie, steak and fresh pastas. Everyone loved their choices. Desserts were light and tasty, served in jelly... More
