Like dinner in France

The restaurant was started by a French chef who retired briefly from a downtown Sacramento lunch only place from which he developed a reputation for excellence. After considering retirement he decided to open up a small, intimate French style restaurant in Folsom. It is a unique place for dinner... read more

none of the reviews before mentioned reservations required, or walk-ins not allowed, nor children neither accommodated mor tolerated, nor they are cash or local check only! We must have had the same snobbish faux french manager who greeted us! condescending arrogant wannabe that will never be! we left this "#1" Folsom restaurant and had an absolutely wonderful dinner at the... The restaurant was started by a French chef who retired briefly from a downtown Sacramento lunch only place from which he developed a reputation for excellence. After considering retirement he decided to open up a small, intimate French style restaurant in Folsom. It is a unique place for dinner, to say the least. The owner is the only chef and... More

Food is fantastic. very French - the food, the service, everything. things to consider at this place. 1. better to wear a tie. 2. they only take cash. 3. need reservations 4. service is slow - plan on a long dinner. 5. you can BYOB but there is a corking fee. 6. your waiter may determine who gets what -... Made a reservation for our anniversary this year for this special occasion and was truly amazed. Small intimate bistro, with superb staff, excellent food, and fabulous wines at very reasonable prices. This was by far the best food and overall experience in any restaurant that I have had in the area. I would highly recommend for a special occasion. This... More

This is by far the best quality, taste, and price you will find anywhere in the Sacramento region. I have been to The Kitchen who so-posed to be the hottest thing in the area and I can tell you Chez Daniel by far out cooks those so called high end chef's any day of the week. I love to eat... More

What a great restaurant. Fabulous French gourmet dinner. And in a true French style. Don't go here if you want a quick dinner. Our Friday night dinner took 3 hours. and a bit more because we chatted with the chef at the end. It's just the waiter and the chef. Estimating perhaps seating for 40? Think about two people handling... More

Stumbled on this cute little Bistro by accident and could not have been more pleased. The four course dinner was perfect--especially the presentation of two soup and salad dishes. Asked Alaine to recommend a wine and it was excellent (one of the less expensive on the list). This is not the place for a quick dinner. Service is similar to... More

I love this small town restaurant that cooks everything special. Nothing frozen, everything cooked to order, only certain dishes cooked each day. They make everything from scratch. The soup..I got the "vegetable" soup which is called the "legume" soup....to die for! Like a creamed asparagus, broccoli, and spinach...with chives....delish!!!!!!!!! Salad very good...I'm not a fan of vinegriette dressing (however you... More

Our waiter, Alaine (Alan, Big Al), started the whole evening off with all of the panache you would expect in a french restaurant. A native of Quebec, his description of the specials was peppered with a soupcon of the artist within. We enjoyed every morsel of our food! We were treated to the soup du jour which was a creme... This small hidden strip mall restaurant is quite the adventure for those willing to accept the challenge. My husband and I have been here twice in the last month and quite frankly, will probably be going again before too long. To start with there are only about 10 to12 tables in this sweet romantic white table cloth establishment. The decor... More
