The first time I went to Chez Soul, I had a fantastic meal and loved the food. Subsequent visits - not so much. Went there with my family recently and the service was really slow and the brisket was very mediocre - chewy and fatty with an odd spice to it that just did not agree with me. The sides... More

I feel so lucky to have found Chezsoul. My family and I were visiting California from Texas and had visited the Jelly Belly factory in Fairfield. While we were wrapping up our factory tour I jumped on TripAdvisor to find us a place for lunch nearby in Fairfield. Chezsoul came up as #1. They so desrve that rating. It does... More

We ate there with my whole family of 8 , and we were seated right away and was given the attention like we were the only ones there. The Gumbo, Fried Fish are good. The sweet potato pie melts in your mouth, and their Caramel cake is yummy too.

We were invited to lunch with our second cousins that we had recently found living in our area. Off of an unassuming street in the downtown area of Fairfield is this restaurant that doesn't boast on the outside all the great things happening inside. We walked in to find the restaurant bustling with activity and filled with happy families on... More

We went here for the first time and shared the seafood platter; it was so go that we came back three days later with some friends. This time hubby had the turkey wings smothered in gravy and I had the snapper and chicken combo. The food was fantastic and the portions were very generous. Will definitely come back again. The... The food here is authentic and so tasty. Have sampled a few of the lunch items and would highly recommend and have to others. The only issue is the service is a little slow. Next time I will call in my order ahead of time. This is one place I am happy to go back to again and again.

We came and left stuffed. I was so surprised we even got a table BC they were so packed and we got there an hr prior to them closing. I got the oxtail smootherd in brown sauce. Omg...it was so tender and flavorful. My husband got the pick 2 BBQ. Then for dessert we shared the coconut almond pound cake.... More

I absolutely love the flavor of all the ribs, chicken and almost everything they cook. The staff is friendly and the amount of food they serve would satisfy a growing teen boy. I recommend this place to all our friends.

Wow! Now I know what real Louisianna cooking is, since it's one of my favorites. This was the real deal from the Crawfish Ettouffe, or the BBQ ribs, Catfish and homemade cakes that are out of this world. Not only was the food great, but the service we received from Sampson and his "sinlaw" (sister-in-law pronounced Sampson style) was so... More

This food is really good. Best hush puppies in the area and the catfish isn't bad either. However this taste comes at an extreme price. Realistically I can justify eating here once a year. Much more than that and I would need to win the lotto. Kind of a shame because if it was cheaper I'd eat here several time... More
