Been several times Always very good. A Great Breakfast / Brunch Spot in Fairfax. Their specialty is New Orleans cuisine. The Chicken and Waffles , Omelets, and Gumbo are all really good! excellent.

We love New Orleans: beignets, gumbo, cafe au lait, crawfish and all . . . but wait I am writing a review of a tiny breakfast place in Fairfax, California, 2000 miles away ! ! ! The beignets are wonderful. The bottomless cafe au lait is powerful (tasty). The gumbo is "home made," no canned ingredients in this one. And,... More

No matter what time of the day you will see the place full of happy people. Sometimes you'll have to wait as the place is small and very popular. The reason is that it is very good food and a friendly staff.

You'll easily spend less elsewhere in Fairfax (coffee $3...but refills are free), but unlikely you will enjoy as good a start to your day. I had the 3-egg omelette with hashbrowns and sourdough toast; my wife had pancakes and spicy sausage. Perfectly prepared and every mouthful was delicious Added bonus is the smalltown atmosphere. The local regulars are greeted like... More

Excellent ingredients, true chef skills and high standards set Hummingbird apart from other choices. The service is friendly and personal, special requests are no problem. The unique southern influenced menu is unique. And the fried oysters are to die for!

The beignets were fabulous and the breakfast and lunch choices were overwhelming. We were all happy with our choices, but wishing we had room to try other dishes that sounded and/or looked just as good. We liked it so much that we made a special trip to go back for more.

This is my favorite place for breakfasts in the Bay Area. I love the corned beef hash (not something I would usually order), the soft shelled crab eggs benedict, and the coffee and beignets. Generous portions, great music playing in the background, casual, retro -- it's perfect, and consistently good. Michelle, the owner, is usually there. Just remember that they... More

We always try to stop here for breakfast when visiting our son in CA...amazing food in a unique setting! Seafood incorporated into traditional breakfast fare...what a surprise, and so well done! The atmosphere is not at all pretentious, very casual with a local flavor.

OK. If you long for beignets - light and airy, that melt in your mouth - and you think you have to go to New Orleans to get them... by all means, have a great trip. But the beignets at Hummingbird Restaurant in Fairfax, CA are BETTER than any I have ever had. Really great. No kidding. Michelle, the owner,... More

Place is small and often crowded, but worth the wait. Really powerful coffee. Great specials like dungeness crab benedict and corned beef hash with perfectly poached eggs - yeah!
