I read some of the previous entries with interest because I have eaten there dozens of times, so if they are going to mess up they have had plenty of opportunities to do so. They do not take reservations except for very large parties, which on a busy weekend night can lead to some dustups at the hostess level, where... more

I use to live in Eureka many years ago. It was known for wonderful seafood. In a trip through there in late Aug. '08, we were stunned at the lack of seafood restaurants. The only one recommended was Cafe Marina. We loved the location but food was a disappointment, barely average but service was so bad we didn't tip. Waiter... more

This place captures the charm and beauty of this coastal city. The fish is FRESH (meaning caught TODAY) and the service is old fashion excellent, warm, down to earth. This is a restaurant that has my 82 year old mom's glass of wine poured when we get her to the table, and our four year old's crayons and crackers waiting... more

We had this reccomended to us by the hotel staff where we were staying, it was less than average. We were "greeted" by a hostess who told us it would be awhile to be seated, then seated us shortly thereafter. She told us it would be awhile for our server to be with us because she was busy. A few... more

I don't suggest eating here. Grab a beer or two and sit outside and just enjoy a sunny day. more

Going there on one of the few sunny days is great if you know what to order. The chowder and tomato bisque as well as the fried oyster appetizers were great but the mains were just gross. Don't ever order the tuna sandwich or the blackened bass both were completely flavorless, imagine an $8 sandwich consisting of nasty white bread... more

Great place to eat....steak was the best.....soup...clam chowder....great.......and the German Cake is over the top great. Don't let the unassuming appearance fool you...these people know how to prepare food that is above and beyond. Price for steak meal including soup/salad/bread and New York Strip was just a bit more than $20.00. This place is a real find. My friend reports... more

Good fresh seafood, cooked correctly, not over coated with bread. Fair prices and good service Two minor complaints, will not serve oyster shooters and no tomato in the salad. more

The food is good, but the best thing about this place is the location. Come during a warm day and sit on the deck. Good for business lunches. more

After moving to Humboldt County, I tried the Cafe Marina three times. The first time it was great - yum. The second time, not so great....service was slow, order was all messed up and the clam chowder wasn't fully cooked. Ok, maybe they were having an off day. Third time - no charm. Clam chowder not fully cooked, again! Surly... more
