This place captures the charm and beauty of this coastal city. The fish is FRESH (meaning caught TODAY) and the service is old fashion excellent, warm, down to earth. We had this reccomended to us by the hotel staff where we were staying, it was less than average. We were "greeted" by a hostess who told us it would be awhile to be seated, then seated us shortly thereafter. She told us it would be awhile for our server to be with us because she was busy. Going there on one of the few sunny days is great if you know what to order. The chowder and tomato bisque as well as the fried oyster appetizers were great but the mains were just gross. Don't ever order the tuna sandwich or the blackened bass both were completely flavorless, imagine an $8 sandwich consisting of nasty white bread... more

Great place to eat....steak was the best.....soup...clam chowder....great.......and the German Cake is over the top great. Don't let the unassuming appearance fool you...these people know how to prepare food that is above and beyond. Good fresh seafood, cooked correctly, not over coated with bread. Fair prices and good service Two minor complaints, will not serve oyster shooters and no tomato in the salad. more

The food is good, but the best thing about this place is the location. Come during a warm day and sit on the deck. Good for business lunches. more

After moving to Humboldt County, I tried the Cafe Marina three times. The first time it was great - yum.
