Cocina del Charro is what we call our "home Mexican restaurant" because whenever we want good and authentic Mexican food we inevitably go there. I typically rate a Mexican restaurant by the quality of their salsa, and their salsa is excellent especially with the hot tortilla chips that are served. Their breakfast menu is extensive and we usually custom order... More

This restaurant was, for many years, on a side street in a very dated location. Now they are in a great central location and are up to date on appearance. The food is very good and we always enjoy ourselves there.

Probably one of the worst carne asada burritos I ever had. It was filled with beans & rice which I prefer on the side, but worst of all there were way too many large chunks of diced onions to suit me. The burrito, as well as my wife's tamale and chili relleno were very bland - lacking basic seasonings normally... More

New location in Escondido is a nice upgrade from previous, food average. Happy hour is average not sure I'd make it a point to frequent.

We visited Cocina today at 17:50. We got the last table a good sign. We both chose the Fajitas, me shrimp, her chicken. The table was too small for all the food! Excellent food quality. However, 2 tortillas each was a bit stingy but 4 more arrived upon request. Drinks are well priced one of the cheapest bottles of good... More

The exterior of this restaurant made us hopeful that the food would be a little better than your common variety of Mexican restaurants and they were busy for dinner on a week-day. We ordered the chile relleno which was more egg than chile, like an omelet with a chile in the center and then covered with a lot of ranchero... More

No matter how many times I go here the experience is the same: Great. But riots are stuffed and always fresh. The chips and salsa are plentiful and yummy. Sunday brunch is wacky busy but still under control. All other times simply great

Food is absolutely delicious, fresh, and they do their own cooking. You can smell the wonderful aromas when pulling up to the restaurant. Service was wonderful, friendly staff, and the patio is a really comfortable place for people with small dogs.
