What an upgrade

I haven't been to this Brigantine restaurant for many years and not since they remodeled. We went last night and didn't expect a wait but when we got there it was extremely crowded, 45 minute wait. We've been to the Brigantine many times and have had mostly good experiences. Then we returned lately for the first time since the restaurant remodel. Lots of changes to the building - I can deal with that, although it got a lot louder throughout the restaurant. Unfortunately, the menu changed a lot eliminating some of our favorites - like prime... We are enjoying Sunday brunch at the remodeled Brigantine, Escondido, CA. I never really liked the dark, dull and unexciting old Brig. but since the new remodeling and the new menu, it has become one of my favorites. Their Swordfish Fish taco plate is so good and for $13, it's a great buy. You can have champagne with your lunch... More

My wife and I have been to this restaurant before, but it has been over two years. To our surprise the restaurant has been completely remodeled. Very fashionable and electric. Fish tacos is a house specialty and according to my wife the best she has had since our prior visit. That is one of the reasons we keep returning. Restaurant... More

We have been to two of the restaurants in this small chain. This one and the one at De Mar. Until now we have always preferred the Del Mar restaurant, because of it's décor and layout . We returned to Escondido this year to find the Brigantine there had been completely remodelled. Gone was the old dark wood and massive... More

The Brigantine has ben in Escondido for decades and it had been about a decade since we have eaten there. We went last week for Taco Tuesday with two other couples and found the atmosphere incredibly changed--open, airy, and bright. They have really improved the environment with a nice dining patio. A friend highly recommended the fish taco, so I... More

Great oysters! Had 2 dozen blue points during happy hour for $36. So fresh. They have a large assortment on happy hour 2 make a meal. The swordfish taco is great, blackened or not. Large spinach salad was enough for 2. They were also accommodating on sauteing the calamari instead of frying which was delicious! Nice atmosphere, great drink prices~one... More

So far we haven't had a bad meal at Brigantine. We always go to the restaurant in Coronado Island but yesterday we had lunch in Escondido. Our waiter Pat was excellent, he explained the menu and checked constantly how our food was. We had the fish tacos with a side dish of blue cheese and bacon potato salad and coleslaw.... More
