As a Brit I am constantly looking for somewhere where they know how to make proper tea......with boiling water, and milk rather than creamer. This cafe not only has mastered the art of tea making but has an array of wonderful desserts, pastries and pies to go with the delicious hot cuppa! This visit was unplanned and very nice.....I intend... More

The Panniken is one of the favorite coffee oriented restaurants in Encinitas. It inhabits an old railroad station and so the ambiance is quite different. It is a favorite of locals and visitors. Their array of coffee drinks is second to none and their pastries and breakfast dishes are all great. If you want a good coffee place but also... More

We enjoyed the house converted into café style dining across from the railroad tracks. Their servers have always been smiling and greeted me with a welcoming Hello, How may I help you? They offer what you would expect from a coffeehouse: Tea, Coffee, Gift shop, breakfast food, snacks, lunch, sandwiches, soup...all of it is great!

This is my second favorite place for a mid-morning break in Encinitas. Great selection of coffees, etc. Only place better, as far as the sweets,is St. Tropez (at the Lumber Yard).

It's located on the 101 Highway, pretty important street. It's like an old train station, where you can find very tasty coffee, and amazing food. I recommend the Greek eggs. The best thing is to seat outside on the weekend, and enjoy the atmosphere. The place get busy with families, dogs, cyclists, friends, it's great. Everybody enjoying their coffee! Love... More

It's located in a bright yellow old train depot/station built in the late 1800's - can't miss it if you're driving on the Pacific Coast Highway - One of my absolute favorite spots in San Diego! Great baked goods - love the muffins, love the pies! The service is great (in case it's confusing if this is your first time,... More

Location is fun, staff is wonderful, food is just so so. We probably would go back if the menu changed. I have heard this from friends and we all agree that the restaurant is a keeper but the menu is not.

Passing by the yellow, old-fashioned building on PCH intrigued me. When I finally stopped to check it out, I was not disappointed. The historic building once a train station is cool and the coffee shop is excellent. One of the best lattes served in a glass mug. The muffins and quiche are quite good too. And it's fun to sit... Pannikins is a coffee roaster and brewer, cafe with intersting food, and great local hangout. The branch at FLower Hill is very nice and energetic, while the one in Encinitas is in the old Encinitas train station and it is funky and friendly. Good cofee, excellent service, interesting surroundings.

Sometimes crowded. Kitschy. This place is an old, yellow railroad station. You're assaulted with visual stimuli. There's a coffee roasting/packing area downstairs, tables and chairs upstairs, a store that sells trinkets next to the counter, and big, huge cakes and baked goods filling the case. Coffee isn't that good. Booths & tables tend to be not clean. Staff can be... More
