This little shop has good carnitas. Not much to look at but the food is good it's right off the coast highway and walking distance to the beach

This little hole-in-the-wall restaurant is one of the best places to eat in Encinitas. It does get a little crowded and seating is somewhat limited, but it is worth the wait. I love the combo plate, chicken (hard shell homemade) taco and chiles rellenos. I always get a little extra red enchiladas sauce--great stuff. The prices are really great, and... More

Don't be deceived by the bars on the windows. But their food is quite good. Service is friendly. Menu is typical. Street tacos are flavorful. I will return here when I'm in this area again.

Rolled tacos are the best in my book! We live down the street here in Leucadia and in walking distance to 3 local establishments with good Mexican food! Can not go wrong with this place! Very crowed in the morning! Neptune St. Just behind the cafe for our local surfers who surf "Grandview". Try it!

Juanita's is a family favorite where we know we can get authentic Mexican. The locals around Encintas all know that this is the best taco shop to go so don't be surprised if you see local surfers coming in the grab some grub before they hit the waves again. They have Great Menudo on the weekend which is a must.... More

We stopped here due to Tripadvisor reviews. As they state, it is pretty authentic. I had the chicken tacos. Make sure to specify if you want hard shell or soft tortillas (I assumed they would be soft, but they gave me hard shell). The hard shells are homemade. The chicken was pretty greasy and overall it was not the best... More

Juanitas is where the locals go when you need a quick mexican food meal. I suggest you take it to go and go to Moonlight Beach to eat it. I like the chicken tacos the best, but people always order the California Burrito so it must be good.

During a visit to San Diego my friend Lindsay, aka The Lunch Belle tookme to Juanitas Taco Shop for lunch. I have to say this felt and tasted like the most authentic Mexican food I've had (outside of Mexico that is). The Tacos have amazing mix ins including Cilantro, some pico de gallo, and delicious assorted cheeses. I told The... More

.....eat at Juanita's. I have a friend over from France and she loves the food. We were sitting outside the other day admiring all the stickers that adorn the building when she said to me "I'm glad you brought me here as the place doesn't look enticing". Then it hit me. I have been eating here since 1990 because it's... More

Juanitas has the best carnitas in North County - just the right combination of moist with crispy bits. The carne asada is also excellent. They actually made it on an MSNBC list of "Best street food in the world" for their fish tacos. I don't know about that, but they are pretty good. Order at the counter and take it... More
