Good food, good music

I have been eating my way through Encinitas in search of the best calamari. Their take on it is definitely different- very similar to the "Eddie V" and "Wildfish" calamari- an asian fusion dish that was simply delish! The musical ambience is nice- sometimes hard to get into. I love this place! They have the best Mexican Cafe Mocha in town (when their machine is working). And they serve Hawaiian style pancakes with bananas inbedded and macadamia nuts topped with strawberries...delish. You won't go hungry after this breakfast; even the eggs and bacon are served with ample fresh fruit to fill you up for a day of activities.... More

Everything about their breakfast is to be tried and liked. From the homemade oatmeal pancakes, to Grand Marnier french toast, it is all good.

Every opportunity I get when we fly to see friends in the area, we always eat at least twice at La Papagayo. I always eat their fish tacos and onion rings....fabulous

We went for lunch, around 1:30 on a Sunday, based on the good reviews here. There was no one to seat us, so we finally asked the bartender and they told us to just grab a table. The patio was full, but there were several open tables indoors, where we sat. It was extremely loud, and very casual. We waited... More

Such a charming little spot....casual yet the food is elegant. Live music! Loved the Seafood Paella for dinner. Stayed very warm and was served in the cast iron pan it was cooked in and was such a large portion I think that two people could easily split. YUM! Another in our party REALLY enjoyed the Kahlua pork. I will definitely... More

I know that Yelp and TA give this place a good rating but I found it lacking in flavor. maybe I was expecting too much. I had the mussels in garlic, white wine which were good but the calamari and chicken satay were just fair. I would not return. nice outdoor patio and good service

Le Papagayo has great food and a really nice patio. They have a live band most nights and all night Happy hour on Tuesdays. I love their flatbreads and sangria.

My wife and I tried this restaurant a couple of times on date nights and found it to be a great place to go. The parking is easy (it's right on 101 with plenty of spots) and the atmosphere is real relaxed. They have a great selection of beers on tap, including a few local IPAs and other types. We... More
