Time for Tripadvisor to update the name on this one -- Vigilucci Encinitas is now MAURIZIO's, and a spectacular place to dine! We ate here on Saturday night and found everything one looks for in a restaurant -- great vibe, marvelous food, and a highly visible owner who knows both how to greet customers, and how to bus plates when... We have been eating at Vigilucci's for over 13 years. We are now retired in Arizona, but visit San Diego frequently. We ate here last night and the food was as good as ever. Unfortunately, the new owner is very hyper and is treating his staff rudely in front of customers. The once relaxing atmosphere has been ruined by his... More

Small, intimate location on old Highway 101 at the beach in San Diego North County, Encinitas. There are no words to describe the spaghetti sauce here. A great gathering spot for families or couples wanting a fine dining experience. Reasonably priced and filling, this is a great taste of Italy!

We and another couple had dinner at Vigilucci's Trattoria Italiana and it was great! The waiters speak Italian and the food was awesome. We started with the mixed appetizer for 2 (which was enough for 4). The calamari was fried to perfection and the cold appetizer items were of high quality. I ordered the Veal Marsala and to my surprise... More

Vigiliucci's Italian restaurant in Encinitas is an excellent choice for Italian Cuisine. Great Service, traditional Italian dishes served in well sized portions. Dine inside or outside, I prefer the outside seating although a light jacket may be required for post sunset dining. Nice selection of wines to go with the meal. Tiramisu is an outstanding dessert selection, recommended by Jacob... More

We were celebrating a special family event in Encinitas and chose Vigilucci's for our celebratory dinner. Upon being greeted by Maurizio at the door and escorted to our table we began a wonderful evening of fine wine and Italian food prepared to perfection. Maurizio suggested a fine bottle of Dogliani that was delightful and fit well with our selections for... More

Of the four of us had dinner at Vigilucci's, two are Italian. This restaurant has it all, excellent food, service and ambience. I had Pappardelle con Funghi Porcini e Capesante (scallops with pasta in a brandy sauce). Excellent. The sauce is more brandy reduction than a cream sauce, which I loved. The scallops were plump and just the right firmness.... More

When it is your turn to have a special night out in Encinitas, and your preferences run to Italian cuisine, you will be hard pressed to do better than Vigilucci’s. A good quality restaurant in the north county region for some twenty odd years, the food is expertly prepared, the service is excellent, and the ambience is just right. It... More

Reasonably priced, well-prepared dishes. Pear salad had superb lemony dressing. Warm bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dipping sauce was excellent

Tratoria's tend to be noisy as heck and this one certainly is, but... it is on the Pacific Coast Highway so the traffic noise and the hubbub of the restaurant give an aura of ITALY - NOISY. Food is always good, fairly priced and the staff is probably among the best in any restaurant we go to. Dont miss it!
