Deep Gratitude for this amazingly perfect New Years' Eve experience. Never thought there would be such an authentic izakaya outside of Japan! True Okinawan warmth and hospitality from this lovely family - thank you for the exquisite food and impeccable sake selection!

My wife and I like the smaller portions and intimate restaurants. Sake House or Yumeya is an authentic Japanese tapas place. You can order as much or as little as one desires. They have a wide variety of authentic Japanese beer and sake. It does remind me of the smaller restaurants in Tokyo or even Kyoto which I have experienced.... More

This place is the real deal. Food was out of this world. Staff was great. Awesome selection of Sake. Udon Noodles were outstanding. This is a place I will return to on future trips.

Yu Me Ya Sake House is by far my favorite place in all of San Diego to eat. The moment you walk inside you definitely do not feel like you are in Leucadia. The ambiance is incredible. From the music to the lighting and even little origami animals at each place setting. The food is out of this world! It is... More

This place is the best Japanese tapas place I've ever been to. the food is amazing and the restaurant is family run so it feels very cozy. it's always super packed, so make sure you reserve a table before going there. I love the two sisters, they're super sweet.

I've been wanting to try this restaurant since I saw it recommened in the San Diego Magazine. After a few failed attempts at finding it including going on a Monday when it is closed I finally went last Tuesday. It was all that everyone said about it plus. I took my adventourous daughter with me and we sat at the... More

I have been eating here since the first month they opened a few years back. I split my time between here and NYC, and can say with out a doubt it's on my top ten of both cities combined. Food is INCREDIBLE, and you cannot go wrong with anything you choose. My fav: Scallops & mushroom, miso cod, tuna cups,... More

It felt as if we were back in Japan ordering multiple dishes for all five of us to try! We understood that two sisters were out front with us and their parents from Osaka were in the kitchen preparing all sorts of fabulous dishes. I don't care for Tofu; but, the way they serve Tofu makes it completely enjoyable. Must... More

This is a very small restaurant (more seats at bar I think than at tables) and there are lines on weekends. Get there soon after 5pm or make a reservation if you want a table. The food is very good--it is an authentic Japanese Izakaya. The family is from Osaka and the father made udon noodles there and does fresh... More

I hesitate to write this review because Yumeya is already a very popular & busy place but I feel that it was so excellent that it warrents a review! On a recent family vacation I searched for a delicious place that would satisfy my whole family & Yumeya was it. Each & every item was delicious. Yumeya is a small... More
