Perhaps the best Japanese meal I've ever eaten

Man, oh man, this restaurant is incredible! The sake menu is gigantic, and I had no idea what to order, so I asked the waitress for a suggestion. She brought me a gorgeous traditional New Years sake with little flakes of gold floating in it. How cool is that? I ate a yam appetizer, tempura (who... read more

This place is a gem. Tiny, crowded, friendly, plenty of seating for a solo traveler. I ate calamari (amazing), tempura (who ever had a jalapeño tempura??? It was great) California rolls (good) and fried yams (incredible). I asked the waitress to select a sake for me and she chose a New Years one with little flecks of gold in it... More

This tiny cozy establishment located on North Coast Highway 101 in Leucadia is super popular for a reason: there’s friendly family service with a smile serving outstanding Japanese comfort food. The succulent shrimp appetizer tucked into a deep fried cocoon and cavernous bowl of udon noodles were tremendous.

Really enjoyed the casual and family like atmosphere of an upretentious but delicious dinner. Because of driving, I could not enjoy Sake but admired the passion and listened to the Sake Master presentation.

The food is great, served in small portions but u are easily filled as they stacked up. Start with sake tasting. You get to taste 4 out of > 50 varieties n then choose one as your accompanying drink. Then go for the beef salad or shrimp tempura. The tempura is crispy n not too oily. As they are freshly... More

This place has a large selection of sake, and it's not your average sake. This is legit. The food is very good as well, though some items may be a bit pricey. It's worth it for a special occasion. Inside is very small, go make a reservation or get there early.

A friend told us we had to eat here when we were in San Diego so we did. We went on a Saturday night. It was so busy we came back during the week. It was worth it. We sat at the bar as there was a wait for a table even with a reservation. Yuka, daughter of the owner... More

Truly a one of a kind place. Very small but cozy inside. Super friendly service. Owner came over and helped us choose which Sake we would like and told us a bit of the tradition and showed us how to take first sip as a couple. Very fun. All of the dishes are small plates and fun to share and... More

This place has the best Japanese tapas. I know thats not a usually thing but it is awesome. I'm surprised its not in the top ten in Encinitas bc people visiting are missing out and makes me wonder how Tripadvisor does its rating system and if it is outdated. Try the calamari or the blackened cod. The seaweed salad is... More
