A gem.

This is one of our favorite places to eat when we come to San Diego. Beautiful drive up the coast to get there. Food is delicious. I love the grilled Halibut and all there sides are good. We have been here 10 days and have already eaten here twice.

Great casual ambiance, and great fresh seafood. This place is jumping all the time. Some people are put off by first ordering at the counter, and then waiting at the table, but the service is actually good, the food excellent, and the beers ICE Cold.

This is not a quiet reataurant or a place to relax and spend an entire evening, but a perfect place for a laid-back dinner, fresh catch of the day with delicious sides served quickly. You order at the front desk and wait for your food, so no fancy stuff going on, but the food is really good, especially if you... More

I went there yesterday, you walk to the counter and place your order, and take a number and the food is brought to your table. The prices are as high as a full service place and the food is not very good. I had steamed clams and mussels, there were three clams and not too many mussels, for the same... More

The only disappointing thing about Fish101 is the line out the door. With a focus on fresh local organic produce and seafood, this popular casual restaurant is a local favorite. I also appreciate their commitment to sustainable practices through recycling and composting efforts. The cuisine is simple but flavorful. I enjoyed the grilled fish plate with quinoa and grilled vegetables.

Fish 101 is a tiny restaurant on the main drag in Encinitas. Walk up service to order than you find a table and the bring it to you. Any of the fish dishes are good. Not very expensive (for Califonia). They do serve beer and wine. Will say that the staff is fantastic! At the table near us was this... More

Unfortunately, and despite the sometimes long lines this is just another Taco shop. Order at the register and try to find a table. The fish burrito and tacos we ordered were made with halibut that had a strange fishy taste, probably frozen fish. If we were to return (not likely) we would pay extra for the Ahi or Wahoo.

We got to a Sunday family lunch with the kids and our dog. We sat on the open enclosed area inside and it was perfect. We brought our own wine to sip and my son could eat a gluten-free fish and chips that he loved. We are coming back, for sure!

Fish was greasy, tasteless, not fresh. Noisy, no table service. Patio not properly shaded. There are so many good fish restaurants in this area...sorry this is not one. It is one of the newer ones I doubt it will last. Yuck
