The food is very good! The fish is very fresh. Our kids love the fish and chips. The fish of the day is always a good choice, but my favorite is the calamari :-)

Don't understand what all the hype is about this place. The poke was the best thing on the menu. The fish tacos & shrimp tacos were soggy with little flavor. The guacamole served with the entrees was spoiled & ruined the meal. We asked for fresh guacamole & it tasted the same. Obviously the cooks don't taste what they serve.... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant while strolling down the street in Encinitas. There was a very long line, very little space, but the consensus of the crowd was that it was well worth the wait. It truly did not take long to place our order and then proceed to grab a table. We all felt that the food was very... More

It was alright but I am never going back. I don't see the attraction that everyone seems to have with this place. Seems like bait & switch, they add an extra charge to the menu price for different items. If the price changes daily put market price on the menu. Where shall I start? Parking sucks. Long line to order... More

This is right along the Pacific Coast Highway, a little north of downtown Encinitas. We thought we were waiting in line for a table and it turns out, you order waht you want to eat then go grab a table, if you can find one. There is a little patio out back and a couple of tables inside. If posh... More

My husband and I had dinner at Fish 101 - he ordered the grilled fish plate, I ordered the grilled shrimp plate, and we ordered the fried shrimp po' boy to share. Yum! The shrimp was so fresh it snapped when I bit into it. The coleslaw wasn't smushy, the French fries - I couldn't get enough of them they... More

Great food at a unique concept in Leucadia. Went there for the first time a couple weeks ago and have been back again since. Tried a number of dishes with my family and they were all delicious. don't care for the long lines but that I suppose is part of the charm and the concept. Never had a problem though... More

We were taken there by some friends, and it did deliver! Proper batter, proper fish and local draught! We had a really good time.

Pros: Great environment with a beautiful back patio (restaurant is larger than it looks from the outside). The mushroom quinoa is one of my favorite dishes and is only $4! Local favorite. Cons: The time to get food in my opinion is a little too long. Even if i have ordered the smallest dish it usually end up waiting 20-40... More

Recommended by a business associate from Scotland who discovered Fish 101 when he was here for UCSD business. We tried it today for lunch when we drove from LA to Carlsbad for meetings. The halibut was perfect, plenty of beer on tap and an abundant offering of micro-brews. The service staff was energetic and personable, and many of those who... More
