Our go-to choice in north San Deigo county

Great flavors, good value, usually quick service, and lots of choices for indoor and outdoor seating. (The airy back deck is our favorite.)Their recent expansion of hours has diminished the crowds waiting to get in at 4 pm for happy hour--the pressure's off. We learned about this little gem from the internet. We were looking for some dinner and found Fish 101 by chance. When I walked in I must say I was skeptical. I was really concerned about finding a seat. It's not exaclty what I had in mind for a restaurant for that evening. We ordered anyway and a nice young... More

Great fast service, and delicious fresh fish - none better. The place might not be a glitzy restaurant, but it's clean and the service is with a smile. Enjoy your lunch or dinner. Don't worry about the lines out the door, they move quickly and your food comes just as fast after your order at the counter.

The Bad: The Three stars was mainly for a big brown poop vein on my grilled shrimp cocktail. The fish and chips I read about being giant weren't all that big and when I bit into it was a good amount of fried air. The chips (French fries) seemed brittle by the time I got them The Good: The fresh... More

Well if you are over by the coast and looking for fresh fish FISH 101 is a very good stop. The restaurant is somewhat small with limited seating out front on it's patio, inside and out back but adequate. Parking is difficult and best to try and snag a spot on the street, or across the roadway near the railroad... More

Awesome fish (we had a red snapper special), reasonably priced, casual atmosphere. Save room for a salted caramel sundae!

The restaurant was packed with happy people. Everything on the menu is quite good. Limited choice menu but all items well prepared and conceived. Would not go back to the area without eating at Fish 101

We visit the area every Winter and one of our first stops is Fish 101. We have tried most items on the menu and have not been disappointed. The mahi mahi taco our our favorite. It is always crowded at dinner, but don't put off by the line it moves quickly.

Fish 101 serves up fresh fish any way you like it with some great wine and beer selections. You order your food at the counter, take a number and then they bring the food to your table. Save some room for the delicious ice cream deserts.

Superb and affordable oysters, great mahi mahi tacos, cod fish and chips, and the dessert. Beer and wine served in jam jars which here is very ok, funky.
