Giovanni's is a funky little place along PCH in Encinitas. Although the title her is Sandwich Shop, it's much more than that. At first you think it's a takeout place, but then realize there are tables inside as well as along the sidewalk. The menu is fairly extensive although the waitress (very friendly and helpful) will explain that some items... More

We stopped in this small restaurant on a Sat afternoon. Some people were waiting for pizzas to go, but we were the only people in the dining room. We ordered a small pizza and a house salad. The salad was huge, delicious and easily shared by two. The pizza had a great crust, but very skimpy on the sausage and... More

We used to get pizza slices an sandwiches, etc. delivered to our house in Cardiff. So good!!! But over the years, it has gone downhill. I took my family from out of town there. We walked in, most of the lights were off, there was no one else in the restaurant, the kitchen area and meat cooler looked unfleshed and... More

Yesterday, we tried to eat at a restaurant across the street called the Blue Ribbon Artizan Pizzeria. They would not wait on us, so we left and remembered Giovanni's. The food was so wonderful, all the great flavors and the ambience is just like being in italy. Even though it wasn't our first choice, it will be from now on.... More

First let me say everything tasted very fresh. I thought the pizza was great. What made it great was that it reminded me of some of the best pizza I have ever eaten in my life. Almost as if it was a cross between a real New York pizza and pizza you would eat if you were in Italy. Good... More

We went there on a Friday night, ordered a pasta dish + a pizza. The penne was falling apart, the sauce was watery and the pizza crust tasted like a saltine cracker without the salt. The restaurant was cold and drafty, service was slow and the prices were way too high.

Good price, good taste, good size. We would definietly try again. Take out best when restaurant is not busy. Giovanni's Sandwich Shop is right next to restaurant.

This place sucks! It is simply beyond horrible! Friends would not let friends eat here! I got sick! Even my dog got sick from scraps!

At lunch I ordered a sandwich that the menu said came with cheese. Then when the bill came, the restaurant had charged me extra for cheese. I had to argue with the waiter to get the extra charge taken off. And the sandwich wasn't anything special.

I have to tell you about this original Italian restaurant in Encinitas CA. When you walk into this place you step into the kitchen to get to the dining room. Owner Vito, a Sicilian chef with 25 years of experience who instantly makes you feel at home, immediately greets you. Besides the traditional dishes that are in every Italian restaurant... More
