Hidden gem in Emeryville, CA. Behind a dive bar. Indoor counter area is definitely retro and a little tight. Outside patio is a little better. Lentil soup that comes complimentary before your meal is the best I've had! I ordered the Mediterranean burger - tasty but a little too much cumin and meat was a little too dry for my... More

In a tough (though not really dangerous) Emeryville neighborhood, and hidden behind a dive bar, Wally serves up amazingly good Greek and Mediterranean food. Wally's is a very basic cafe with about 20 seats at a wooden counter and a few outdoor tables. The restaurant looks like it should be in a bleak 1930's Edward Hopper painting, but Wally himself... Punt the fast food, drop in here for a quick bite. Or call it in, pickup, and take it to the park or back to the office. You can't beat the value - super tasty gyro sandwich for $7.95, onion rings for another $1.5. Lentil soup appetizer and a two bite baklava for dessert are included - beat that anywhere... More

Yeah... it's all true, DO believe the hype. As we say back home: "Broke da mout" good. 1st time out: Grabbed 3 co-workers and took the 7 minute drive from downtown Oakland, SO WORTH IT. Was kinda crowded and a bit of a wait, but was kept busy with a starter bowl of Lentil soup... double up the portion, add... More

I really, really liked this place. The place itself looks a little run down but the food is amazing. I had the chicken shawarma wrap and my friend had the chicken gyro...yum. They serve lentil soup and baklava with every order and it's inexpensive. It's really worth the effort to go here. If I'm ever in the area again, I'm... More

The gyros were really good, but were not the part that stood out the most. The complimentary lentil soup was amazing (even my boyfriend who doesn't normally like lentil soup loved it), and they also gave a complimentary baklava for dessert that was maybe the best baklava I have ever had. The staff was also very nice and attentive. Overall,... More

No way around it, this place is a total dive. It's tucked into a corner, you have to pass a dumpster to get in the door, etc. The food is outstanding, however, and the friendly family atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed, while the service is amazingly rapid. The portions are generous, so bring your appetite!

Okay, if you are hungry, run, don't walk to Wally's at the Bank Club Café. If you don't run, everyone will beat you to the place. You know its good food when you have to wait in line behind everyone else that wants to eat there. Don't go to a restaurant with an empty parking lot. Wally's is a Mediterranean... More

Stumbled upon this little European cafe at the back of a bar on San Pablo whilst I was staying in Emeryville. Not sure what to expect but they served Gyro and other assorted spit meat dishes so I was keen to try it out. The food is extremely well cooked, the chicken well marinated and full of flavour. Value is... More

Amazingly delicious Lebanese food at very low prices, with an extraordinarily gracious and personable owner who will greet you with a free bowl of fabulous lentil soup and help you finish off your enormous meal (if you can) with a free piece on the best baklava on the planet Earth.
