Sorry to see you go!

One of the saddest days in my recent foodie history is when I learned that Jose Luis was moving on to a different future and selling Cafe Gibraltar. The best restaurant on the coast, and arguably, one of the best in the entire Bay Area will be no more in just a few short days. If you get a chance... read more

I should start by saying I wasn't at Cafe Gibraltar for a regular meal -- my company had a party there, taking over the whole restaurant, so it wasn't a typical sit down, look at the menu, order, kind of thing. The setting was lovely and the food was very good, but I'm writing this review in particular because the... More

This restaurant is a bit remote for us,but it is definitely worth the drive for a special dining experience. The restaurant is along Highway 1 with a view of the pacific. It is intimate, with an elegant decor and open kitchen. Our party had the duck confit, boar and evening's sole special dinners and we were all delighted with our... More

Cafe Gibraltar is our favorite "special dinner place" in the Half Moon Bay area! Chef Jose's creative interpretation of classic foods of the Mediterranean, and the use of mostly local, seasonal foods means there's always many special dishes on his menu. We especially like the seafood and the vegetarian dishes, but our friends who love beef always find a great... More

The food is good and ambience is great. I would go more often but there isn't a lot of variety in the menu, and it doesn't change. Go once, go twice, maybe then you're done.

Finally made time to have a dinner at Cafe Gibraltar. Now I wish I hadn't waited so long. This place is Fantastic! We went all the way with appetizer, salad, entree, desert and wine (including a desert port). Every single item was excellent and several were outstanding! I'm looking forward to going back again.

We happily drive from San Francisco to El Granada (just north of Half Moon Bay) for the wonderful meals served up at Cafe Gibraltar. Last night I started with the octopus and squid salad, and had the duck prepared two ways. Roast breast and duck leg confit. That was as good a meal as i could get anywhere..

We have driven past this place many times but never in the evening. Happened upon it while headed to a seafood place we frequent and they were able to seat us! Had great attentive service too. We had glasses of good wine, mine French and my husband's from Napa. They have a nice selection of wines by the glass and... More

My wife and I have been to this restaurant twice - first for our anniversary and again for her birthday. The seating in the back of the restaurant against the wall is traditional Moroccan style - you sit on a bed of pillows around a table. Very romantic experience. The food - exceptional - rabbit, pheasant, veal, - done in... More

We discovered Cafe Gibraltar years ago and have tried to visit each time we are in the Bay Area. (We live in Ohio). Since we discovered that Pacifica is only 7 miles from the airport, we make it a point to stay in the area our last night before catching a morning flight. The chef is amazing and the flavors...
