Everything is excellent here

When I first walked into this Porto’s in Downey several years ago, I was taken aback by the long lines. There were two, one to the right for the bakery counter and one to the left for the café counter. A bakery.... average bakery. Over-hyped by the many. Can get the same average pastries and cakes at Tropicana a few minutes away - or if you do not want to wait long annoying Disneyland style lines for average pastries or cakes, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. But, if you like to fall into the hype and the monkey... More

When I moved to Southern California 30 years ago, I often got my lunch or dinner from the bakery at Porto's in Glendale, which I believe was one of their first locations. The food was great and moderately priced, so I was very excited several years ago when they opened a Porto's in Downey. I have to say that I... More

I've been to Porto's in Glendale & Burbank, but this was my first time in Downey. It's 4 years old and is well laid out. There are two lines inside: both are for food, but the one on the right is the only one for cakes. The lines are well managed inside and out, and they go quickly. We were... More

This is the first time I step foot inside a Porto's Bakery and good Lord what a crowd! It took us about 30 minutes to find a parking spot in their garage and that was the most annoying part of the experience. The bakery itself was impressive in size and selections. You can go crazy and buy too much food.... More

Its ok, It would be considered average in Europe so accordingly its not worth the insanely long lines... up to 30 minutes waiting time. If you do choose to brave the line, make sure you get the cheese cake it was pretty impressive.

When first arriving, I had my doubts that a place this busy and crowded could maintain the quality of its pastries and desserts. I was very wrong. There was a line so long, that a manager kept us from entering the store lest it get too crowded inside. No matter; the line moved quickly and we were helped within fifteen... More

After a long drive from No Cal, all we can think about is Porto's. it was our first stop of our LA trip. Not sure if it's the creamy piña colada or the flaky cheese rolls or the moist red velvet cupcake, but everything was calling out to us. My fave is the steak torta and the cheese rolls. Lines... Stopped here after landing at LAX. Lines were long and ordering is kind of a hassle. Stood in line for 30 minutes to be told to move to another counter to order sandwiches (Why not have a separate line). I am sure if you stop here often you will get used to it. Once we got the food it was... More

Best ever Cuban Cafe & Bakery. Somewhat confusing..just need to understand the lines...want Pastry...line by the Bakery Cases, need a Cake, line by the Cake Cases, want lunch line around the corner from the Bakery, My suggestion want Bakery goods one person stand in line, want to Eat lunch at the Bakery... one person stands in that line...it all works...
