Lines out the door

I walked out with three bags of food for $40. Got a dozen potato balls, a bunch of sweet cheese sticks, empanadas, meat pies, 2 sandwiches, a ham&cheese croissant, and some mousse. All of it was super yummy.

I've always enjoyed the cheese rolls here and they really are worth driving to Burbank for. fortunately this place opened a branch in Downey which is only about 12 miles from my house. The funny thing is I've always ordered the guava rolls, cheese rolls and the potato balls but never anything else. Probably because the original Porto's was always... More

The bakery and sandwiches are great!! The wait time is too long though..The crossiant sandwiches are terrific and the cheese filled pastry puffs heavenly!

The lines are split between the bakery and the deli, which is smart because both lines are always long. Don't worry, with the large staff, it goes fast. I've tried different cakes and all are delicious. The cheese cake however should stay refrigerated. In the deli, I stick to the potato empanadas. They're filled your choice of beef, chicken or... 3½* Porto’s 8233 Firestone Blvd Downey, CA 90241 Cuban food, mostly sandwiches and pastries & cakes Parking is a little challenge Crowded, upscale ambience (unfortunately, I prefer the crowded Glendale location for its humble charm ;-) Delicious food at reasonable prices The lechon plate was good Love the medianoche, Cuban, and veggie sandwiches Good cortados Friendly and helpful staff

Of course we thought it was going to be busy so we tried to come in around 8am before heading out to Disneyland. Sure enough it was already packed! Surprisingly, we were in and out in 10 minutes! It took us longer to decide which ones to get because we couldn't fit everything in our car! >_<

I called the Downey store around 7AM for 2:30PM same day pickup. 2dozens cheese rolls, a dozen guava cheese roll, and a dozen potato meatballs cost $37.50. There was a separate area for pre-ordered pick up! Twas a breeze! So happy with how tasty their products are!

This was my second visit to this place, a year prior, and it is still YUMMY. This time I sat and had lunch along with dessert.. The sandwich was great and chees Danish was still out of this world. You must try the cheese-Danish. Ask for a sample, they will gladly share.

I had read about this Cuban bakery online and when I arrived at my hotel nearby, the staff heartily endorsed the cafe. It is a huge building (almost 20,000sf) with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Wait in line and order your food and then it is delivered to your table. There are 2 lines with counters full of desserts,... More
