Second Visit

This was my second visit to this place, a year prior, and it is still YUMMY. This time I sat and had lunch along with dessert.. The sandwich was great and chees Danish was still out of this world. You must try the cheese-Danish. Ask for a sample, they will gladly share.

I had read about this Cuban bakery online and when I arrived at my hotel nearby, the staff heartily endorsed the cafe. It is a huge building (almost 20,000sf) with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Wait in line and order your food and then it is delivered to your table. There are 2 lines with counters full of desserts,... More

Porto's has a great selection of bakery goods. They also have great lunches with a Cuban theme. I love the Cuban pork sandwich. They serve plantain chips with your sandwich. There I always a line of people. Definitely a popular place. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

On a school trip with the kids. The buses stopped nearby for a very early lunch, but there was hardly other places opened yet nearby. Visually, impressed by the size of the "bakery" and the number of people in line....must be that good? The line was long already without the 3 buses of kids adding to it. The display of... More

This place was highly recommended by the locals. It was so good I had to go back for seconds, thirds. Ok you get the idea. Sandwiches are yummy and don't forget dessert!

Excellent papas rellenas. Line was long but moved quickly. Servers very pleasant and fast. Also enjoyed pastries. Some with cheese. Nice to have options.

Portos has great food. Everytime i go, there is always a wait. I have waited as long as 1/2 hour in line. But i believe its worth the wait. They also have the best pastries. Their is a separate line for pastries only. I have seen the line for pastries wrapped around the building.

When I first walked into this Porto’s in Downey several years ago, I was taken aback by the long lines. There were two, one to the right for the bakery counter and one to the left for the café counter. Thankfully, the lines moved relatively quickly, and in any case the food and pastries turned out to be so good... More

A bakery.... average bakery. Over-hyped by the many. Can get the same average pastries and cakes at Tropicana a few minutes away - or if you do not want to wait long annoying Disneyland style lines for average pastries or cakes, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. But, if you like to fall into the hype and the monkey... More

When I moved to Southern California 30 years ago, I often got my lunch or dinner from the bakery at Porto's in Glendale, which I believe was one of their first locations. The food was great and moderately priced, so I was very excited several years ago when they opened a Porto's in Downey. I have to say that I... More
