I loved this place.Margeritta were two thumbs up.The food was excellent.I loved the aqua leather seating. My friend thought the lighting was too bright but it didn't bother me. Best part is the family who runs it.They were so lovely, accomodating and very hospitable hosts.I enjoyed their manner very much and we had a wonderful yummy evening.

The food was delicious and yummy for traditional mexican food. loved the service and the spacing was comfortable and pleasant. The place was clean and a smile every time from the servers and wait help.

Tried another rated Mexican restaurant last time in DHS which was okay so we decided to try South of the Border for lunch on a weekday. We were so glad we did. The Cadillac margaritas were quite good (not as good as mine) and the chips and salsa were veit ry good. Chili Verde is on the menu and since... More

The service was good. The food was decent. It's a fun spot to check out but it just looks tired to me. Very well run. I gave it a 3 star probably because I expect more, being from a more sophisticated part of the U.S. but then, this is Desert Hot Springs so probably needs more stars!

My fiance and I came in, not a single "hello" or acknowledgement besides some guy raising up two fingers and saying "two?" I said thank you when we got seated. No response. After a long wait we asked for 2 chabelas. Tasted awful, and still another half hour for the waitress. She finally came by and said "ready?" I would... More

Desert Hot Springs can be an adventure in all it's self. South of the Border is a good solid safe place to each with good food and service.

Went with the family for dinner here. Atmosphere is typical tchotchke stuff on the walls and lots of stuff stuffed around. Wait staff was friendly. Ordered one kids meal and three adult meals. Kids meal was less $ but when the meal came it was the exact same size as the adult portion. Food was fresh but average run of... More
