We stayed at the Secret Garden Hotel adjacent to the Cafe Secret. Included with the hotel is breakfast at the Secret Garden. We enjoyed our breakfast and the staff is very nice. We went back the next night for dinner. It is a Peruvian restaurant with lots of Civiche and tasty dishes. The seating is outside, nice on a summer... More

Had a couple of ceviches. Very expensive for what you get. Also had seafood soup, yam, shrimp appetizer was good.

I have spent much time in Peru since I have family living there. We have also tried several Peruvian restaurants in California. Many are really nouveau Peruvian and are quite expensive and not worth the money. Don't let the name of the restaurant fool you, the food is great and very authentic. All the sauces have just enough aji (hot... More

Fantastic food! I got the macho...a seafood sampler. Fresh local sea bass, plus a half dozen other things. Cheap wine and tapas Tuesday-Thursday evenings too. Outdoor seating. Great staff.

We certainly enjoyed the food. Great pork sandwiches. Enjoyed the outdoor seating and the humming birds. Did not enjoy the fact that people are allowed to bring their dogs without any consideration for people with allergies or how badly the dog's hair was matted or how bad the dog smelled or how loud the dog barked. Leave the dogs at... More

This was one of the best and freshest meals I've ever had! Every single thing I had I thoroughly enjoyed. I don't care for ceviche and even the ceviche was incredible! The sangria was delicious, and the scallop appetizer was unreal! Already planning our return visit!

Have been here several times with a friend who's half Peruvian. We've ordered almost everything on the menu already (will complete it in future visits). Having been to Lima last year for Mistura, I agree with my Peruvian friend that the food is excellent. The husband/wife Peruvian couple that own/operate Cafe Secret are passionate about the food and the experience.... More

They don't know how to cook eggs over medium. First they sent out over easy, then the sent out eggs that were so well done they were rubbery and the third time they were sunny side up. I left after that. The server didn't even apologize and no manager was to be found.

If you want authentic yummy well prepared food then Cafe Secret is the place! Coming from San Francisco I was very disappointed in the restaurants in San Diego. It seemed like I could not find a place that cared about the quality of their ingredients with the creating of something yummy and then I found Cafe Secret;) This is the... More
