The magic that happens in Cafe Secret's tiny kitchen dates back to the couple's childhood years in Peru, where good food and great company was a part of life. We are full-service restaurant proud to serve homemade authentic Peruvian cuisine. Join us in the heart of Del Mar, San Diego California. Our cozy indoor-outdoor setting, on the street, covered by beautiful bugambilia, resembles side street cafe from a european city. Romatic, quaint with a lot of character. Come and join us for some out of this world flavors.

The restaurant offers covered outdoor seatings only but there plenty of heaters for cool weather. There is a good selection of Peruvian dishes. A couple of highlights were the Pulpito (octopus) appetizer and the Chaufa, a seafood rice dish with Cantonese influences. They offer Chicha Morada (a sweet Peruvian blue-corn drink) without alcohol or as a sangria. Desserts are house-made.... More

This place is very unique, with mostly outdoor sitting offers good flavor and great service. I have tried here the ceviche, tamales, Aji de gallina and everything tastes good. I was a little disappointed to see that the price of ceviche has gone up twice since I started going here and the portion is very small. If you are planning... More

Had dinner here with hubby. Having frequented other Peruvian restaurants in our travels, I will have to say we were disappointed. We ordered the lomo saltado. There was hardly any beef and the very few pieces of beef we had was fatty. Had more yuca and tomatoes. The portion size was ridiculously small. Definitely not an entree portion. The fish... More

Cafe Secret is a delightful place to have lunch in Del Mar. I love their pulled pork sandwiches Peruvian style with a side of salad.

Loved the ambience of this place at night - there's banquette, seating, a red glow to the lighting, a trickling fountain and attentive service.

I walked by on my way to lunch elsewhere and decided to try Cafe Secret because the plates they were putting out to diners on the patio caught my eye. I'm so glad I stopped. The menu is loaded with great choices for seafood lovers and those who prefer chicken or steak. I had a hard time deciding but opted... More
