This is the worst sushi place ever!! For one, the staff try to fool you with using Japanese words, such as "Arigato" , however when you get to know them, they are Korean. I'm not dissing on Koreans, however the overall theme with these guys that I want to emphasize is deception. They have an "all you can eat" sushi... more

The fish was non-descript. While the texture of the fish was fine, there was no flavor. We sat at the sushi bar hoping for good interaction and recommendations from the sushi chef. Unfortunately, he has no recommendations and didn't even seem to know what he had on hand. Service was unremarkable. Prices were high for the quality. Atmosphere was clean,... more

We eat at Ajiya at least 3 times a week always at the sushi bar, we always sit in front of Jeff. It is as great as any of the greats, I am talking Nobu, or any other great sushi bar. more

I don't eat sushi, but I love the other dishes. Their rempura is especially good. My husband loves sushi & this place is a special treat for him. Lovely decor & nice service. We had to send our appetizer back b/c it was cold though. more

Based on these reviews, I wasn't necessarily aching to try Ajiya (the combo of the negative reviews plus the others which were so superlative that they could be restaurant staff plants). But we gave it a try last week...and realized why the enthusiastic reviews were so enthusiastic! The sushi is a lot more expensive than at other places nearby (like... more

Lousy service - we had to wait forever to be seated (even though the place was empty) and for every other interaction with the waitress. The miso soup was like seawater. The tempura was greasy and tasteless, and the seafood yakisoba had all of three pieces of seafood in it (all squid), overcooked vegetables, and was bland. The onion rings... more

A terrific new restaurant with some of the best sushi ever. A broad imaginative menu. I was treated like royalty with superior service and some great sushi. had a rainbow roll, tuna roll, spicy tuna, and a shrimp tempura roll. Portions were generous and everything very fresh. They also offer half portions of the special rolls so a single person... more

No depth of flavor in the miso soup and green tea. Spicy Sashimi Salad looked like a messy casserole + sashimi pieces were stringy. Uni sushi was sent back. Fishy smell. Tasted old. Fish entrees were OK, but full of bones. Tuna sashimi sushi was simply a piece of fish on a mound of unseasoned rice. That's it. more

We had a great time at Ajiya!! Ajiya is Del Mar's latest hit as far as restaurants are concerned.. Whether it's sushi you're in the mood for or just a well put together entree, Ajiya's got it! My date had many selections from the sushi bar, while I chose the Grilled Kobe Sirloin from the entree selections. We started out... more
