Description: Jake’s Del Mar brings new American cooking to the edge – to the water’s edge that is. Located right on the beach in Del Mar Chef Duvinh Ta uses fresh, seasonal products as the inspiration for updating classic preparations of fresh fish, shellfish and premium meats. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch menus showcase clean, eclectic flavors and local, sustainable products that are complemented by Jake’s jaw dropping location on the sand. The nightly Chef’s Special is a seasonal creation that features the best seafood, meats and produce available and through the Legacy of Aloha program, Jake’s donates a portion the proceeds from the Chef’s Special to the San Diego Food Bank.

Had a solo dinner on a weekday night at the bar. Bartender was helpful, made excellent food and beer recommendations, and filled me in on the local history. It was a laid back, comfortable atmosphere, perhaps a little noisy, but I was in the bar. I would go there again, and it seemed like if you had reservations, a more intimate... More

What's not to like? On a recent Saturday, we met up with friends and scored a table near the window. We shared the calamari appetizer, which was excellent (no small feat), and we all enjoyed seared tuna salads and decently priced glasses of wine. We shared a yummy dessert and just enjoyed the afternoon on a glorious day on the... More

Jake's was a great dining experience for my husband and I. We had a precious date night and made reservations at Jake's to watch a sunset while enjoying dinner. The ambiance reminded us of one of our faves in Maui, Hawaii, Kimos. Didn't know it, but they are owned by the same group! No wonder it was delightful! Food was... More

I know there are locals that enjoy Jake's, but. It us so much. Too crowded during the summer. Who wants to go during the winter when it's already dark. You CAN hit the jackpot, with a perfect burger, perfect artichoke. But more often it's average.

Lively restaurant, great service, fantastic food w/ interesting flavor. Highly recommended! I got their seafood stew with saffron-- like a bouillabaise but with an Island exotic twist. My husband got the Alaskan Halibut-- flaky and with an orange chili sauce. Our server, Eric, was attentive and fun. Before dinner we had a drink at the bar-- and the service there... More

We got to Jake's for a 6pm reservation and the place was already jammed. Parking is scary tight, the noise level would jar a deaf man and the food, while fresh, is pretty bland. There were so many old cougars at the bar you could hear the purring. But the beach and ocean views cancel out a lot of that... More

I recommend the short ribs for starters in the bar. Be sure to go for the sunset and enjoy an excellent dinner. The staff is professional and it's a dress to impress or slightly comfy vibe.

I always enjoy stopping by Jakes for their Happy Hour food and drinks. It's very popular so you have to get there early.

From the idyllic view to the casual-yet-tasteful decor, to the wonderful menu & bar... what's not to love? This place is Aces, across the board, and while I didn't rate it as "one of the best meals I've ever had" (pretty hard list to crack), I had no complaints at all about the food. It was great... and it's been... More

Recently, I received an educators gift certificate from Jake's and today my husband and I tried Jake's for the first time. We were very pleased with our food (I had the salmon and my husband had the seafood trio). We started with the spring rolls and finished with a cup of coffee and mixed berries for dessert. We did make... More
