Located right on the beach in Del Mar Chef Duvinh Ta uses fresh, seasonal products as the inspiration for updating classic preparations of fresh fish, shellfish and premium meats. The lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch menus showcase clean, eclectic flavors and local, sustainable products that are complemented by Jake’s jaw dropping location on the sand. The nightly Chef’s Special is a seasonal creation that features the best seafood, meats and produce available and through the Legacy of Aloha program, Jake’s donates a portion the proceeds from the Chef’s Special to the San Diego Food Bank.

You feel instantly relaxed once you are seated at Jake's and stare out at the beach which is literally right there. Service is very professional and "California" friendly (friendlier than I'm used to in Manhattan). Decor is tasteful and very understated. Food is good but not necessarily memorable except the desserts which were very good.

We didn't realize when we made the reservations that it was the ending of the race season. We were able to get a table for the time we wanted and even though it was crazy busy and loud, we had a lovely time. We were able to see the Del Mar Race track from our table which was a fun... More

Went for a late lunch. The surf was up and the view is excellent. Had the flatiron steak and wedge salad. Delicious iced tea. I would recommend highly. Valet parking is a bargain at $4.

Seated immediately without a reservation which surprised us, even on a Monday night. Service was fast, food was great - had the Mahi Mahi. Save room for the insane deserts.

I went to this place for a dinner with friends before my departure to italy. We went for seafood and all the dishes were delicious. We also had dessert, they served us a huge ice cream, it was high 20cm! Everything was really good and it's not expensive. The location is spectacular, it has big windows facing on the beach... More

The sequential California beach restaurant. Incredible ambiance on the beach on a sunny California breezy day with temps in the mid 70s. The food & service are all 51/2 SPOONS! We had a delicious beet salad, grilled salmon and a fish trio of halibut, all with side dishes and tastefully presented. California dreaming? Go to Jakes in Del Mar.

This is a beautiful restaurant right on the beach in Del Mar. We have had inconsistent meals there. Our last lunch at a great window table, was just ok at best. Our waiter was not vested in our meal and was only around to take our order and give us a check. I think people love going there for the... More

We were here for a week and had one great meal after another. Jakes though was our favorite. Amazing food and views were amazing, right on the beach with wide open windows that makes you feel like you are outside. Waiter was great and had us try some unique dishes and explore. Mussels appetizer was the best with sea beans,... More

Eating at Jake's was somewhat of a trade-off.....spectacular view but average food. Definitely try to get a table on the ocean side, preferably next to the windows. My mahi-mahi was pretty flavorless and quinoa cake it was sitting on was cold. We did not order desserts but those at table next to us looked good.
