'Harpooned' - bulls-eye eatery

Made a trip to Dana point to visit a friend that recently moved to that area. Nice location, and went for an 'early bird' (Happy hour) meal. Nice decor and place was filled with the 'senior' crowd. Staff was attentive and very courteous to our table of diners. Food was ordered, delivered... read more

This is a great location in Dana Point Harbor. Unfortunately, the decor and menu need an update. It appears as though everything was at it's height in 1985. Healthier food options and new flooring and decor would go a long way to making this a destination restaurant.

This restaurant is situation with a dining room overlooking the ocean. There is not a bad seat in the house! My husband had the Ono ($24.95) and I had the tuna stack ($28.95). Both were delicious but we could've shared my dinner. The Ono was served with garlic mashed potatoes. The tuna stack was steamed rice topped with a thin... More

Their calamari is so delicious. It's pounded, breaded, sliced and fried and then served with delicious sauces. It's not at all like the ringed calamari. Everything else we had was great! I'll try to remember what everyone had: shrimp and chips, swordfish, fish tacos and shrimp tacos. Ask to be seated in the enclosed area up where you can see... More

Although this place is hopping busy, we were disappointed in the food. The clam chowder was tasteless. The salad boring, not fresh. Service was good by wait staff.

After seeing a few good reviews our family decided to give Harpoon Henry's a shot for dinner on our family vacation. The atmosphere had a distinctly elderly feel--it was a quiet, dark establishment. In many ways it felt more reminiscent of a library than a restaurant. The food was very pricey but distinctly average and lacking in flavor. As for... More

This restaurant has consistently good food. We eat here often as we are locals. The service is good, the Salmon on a cedar plank is wonderful, and the view of the harbor is always calming. I am sure some will feel the restaurant needs updating in the décor. It does. But it has quiet booths. I like a place that... More

I ate a late lunch there last week with my husband and daughter. I had the shrimp combination and thought the food was very good. Outside seating was not available that day but I am not sure why. We were seated at a table and not a booth. I think the chairs are not very comfortable but still had a... More

We went in for a late lunch. The place was almost empty so it was easy to get a seat. The server had been brought up from the quick service area to wait on tables. We ordered Garlic Bread, Shrimp and chips and fish and chips. The chips were soggy. The fish was more breading than fish. The same went... More

The restaurant was lovely and service was good. We were disappointed that the patio was closed at 2p on a Thursday afternoon.
