Excellent fish - but go for the food

Jon's has been in Dana Point for over thirty years - a hole in the wall? Definitely. No alcohol (just sodas or water) , eat off wooden bench tables, but the food is great. Fresh fish, cooked the way I like it. I had grilled salmon this time, and it was a big serving, cooked perfectly, and I was... read more

After a few years we came across this restaurant on this trip. So impressed we returned with the rest of the family for a second visit. The fish and chips are excellent (and from a Brit that is serious praise). The combo is fantastic and my wife and I did learn to share on the second visit having been bitten... More

Love this place.. A real fish market but I have only visited to dine. patio, outside with picnic benches. Best fish and chips around.. The light crispy batter fried fish is delicious. I have also had fish tacos that were good. My friend had a fish combo plate that was just OK, the fried fish is definitely the right choice.

This local hangout used to be very good many years ago, but not anymore. We live locally and frequently go to the harbor for walks and to enjoy a meal. We stopped eating at this place about 2-3 years ago. This weekend we decided to give it another chance since we were pressed for time and did not want to... More

A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend went here for lunch. He has been going there for years. He had the fish and chips and always ask them to substitute the fish for halibut. They always accommodate him even though it costs just a little bit extra. The halibut here is always fresh!

Great place to sit and relax. We also order our fresh oysters for the holidays there every year at Thanksgiving and Christmas. The place is amazing. You can place an order for any type of fish to take home to cook. Or you can dine there.

Very good generous portions of fish and chips. Located in Dana Point Harbor...parking was a little hard to find this time...usually plenty of parking. 4 pieces of fish with a crispy batter.

This place is a little out of the way, hiding amongst the tourist traps but it is worth searching for. We split an order between two of us and had plenty. It took a few minutes to cook up a lunch just for us. Lightly battered fish and tasty chips, and cole slaw is pretty much all on the menu... More

We were shocked by the amount of fish and chips and probably could have shared a meal. An order was four pieces of fresh fish lightly battered. Great to have more fish and less batter!!!! Fries were also very good and plentiful. Tartar sauce very tasty. I was not a fan of their coleslaw (very bland) although my husband liked... More

My wife and I had fish and chips at John's today. We waited in like for a few minutes, ordered our food and paid for it, about $36 for two orders plus small ice teas. When our food arrived they called our name and we carried the tray to the table. The portions of fish were huge, but they were... More
