Some reviewers think this place is dated, but I think the decor is part of its charm. We were looking for an impromptu late lunch on a Saturday. We would have gone to Westlake Joe's, but that restaurant has closed. My husband suggested this place since he has taken clients there for business lunches before. We were greeted by the... More

If you want to be taken back to old San Francisco then this is the place to come. The food is standard fare and the wait staff are knowledgeable. The booths are great too. The bar is cosy, especially in winter when they light the fire. Feels like it's from the TV show Happy Days!

This is indeed a fine restaurant in terms of menu variety, quality, presentation and service. However on Thu, Fri & Sat evening there is Karaoke in the adjacent Lounge which is not isolated from the restaurant with doors. Looking forward to a classy dinner, my wife and I decided to go there for dinner on Sunday, Aug. 17, to avoid... More

Our family of 4 ate at Val's recently. The restaurant had a real throwback feel to it. I loved the mood especially after dusk and the green banker's lights had a moody glow. The service was very prompt and friendly. The food was outstanding and they gave you large portions. The fried chicken was super. We were just passing through... More

The food was great. Excellent service. Large portions. No air conditioning so it was a little warm. A good value for the price.

We chose this restaurant because it was within walking distance from our hotel. Yes, the decor may be a little tired, as some reviewers noted, but the overall experience was still very good. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. She also helped us with how to get around San Francisco and to the pier. Her advice was spot on!... More

We ate here twice during our visit. The first I had pasta which was okay. The second was a salmon special. I myself could do better. The place hasn't had a decor update since disco was in vogue. Doesn't Daly City have anything better?

I give props to the waitress who tried to make this a nice experience. The food was average, the decor outdated, and I felt like my Italian relatives from the 1970s would come walking in from some back room. The prices were a bit high for the quality. All I can say is they try.

Great place to go for an inexpensive dinner. Good value and some dishes are real winners. The early bird specials are great deals that are very hard to beat.
