sign said open at 11:30, we got there and at 11:35 I believe the owner finally showed up. Told us to wait a minute while she opens up, we said fine and waited. About 5 minutes later a local man walked up and she ran us off saying she was not opening and helped the second man who walked up.... More

small A frame building. Don't blink or you'll miss it. Recommended by locals, did not disappoint. Best when it's not cold outside, as it is a take out burger joint.

Limited menue but the burgers are good. There is nothing fance about this place. They are often out of this or that and the owner is trying to sell it. It is popular with the kids on their way home from school and an alturnative to McDonald's.

This quirky little place looks like it's been there since the drive in days of the 50's. It's a tiny little place but it's all part of it's charm. The owner is quite a character and the food is delicious. It's a cash only place to don't whip out your plastic. The burgers are great and it's location is right... More

The A is still hanging in there serving great drive-in type fare -- burgers, hot dogs, some Mexican, and -- of course -- the shakes and malts. It's not a huge menu but, when one sees the size of the place is smaller than many folks' living rooms, it can be understood. The owner (the lady who will usually take... More

Not really a restaurant but it has the best hamburger in town. You can't leave w/o trying the malts...like they used to make...REAL malts--amazing. Love this lady, she runs a nice business and service is always great.

They MAKE your food to order not WARM UP your food like McGreasy so its not quite as fast but its worth the wait. I love their chili on just about everything. There isn't a lot sitting around The A so take it to go and park near Lake Gregory

If McDonalds sounds nasty, go across the street and get a big A with tasty dressing and crunchy lettuce.

Really good food, primarily of the hamburgers and milkshake genre. Certainly not very healthy but they really make it well. There are a few seats inside that aren't used much. Most sit outside and take in the small mountain-town atmosphere. Main drawback to the A is the service. But a bacon cheeseburger outside on a sunny day makes you forget... More
