Traditional French Cooking with a Modern Twist

We celebrated a birthday dinner here and it turned out to be a good choice. We had a number of different dishes, including foie gras (yea, it's back!), the calamari, the mussels, the spare ribs, the special lobster entree, the lamb special, and the clam chowder. Everything was delicious and... read more

We've been eating here for many years, and it was great. Now, it's lousy: the lobster salad has shells in it and too much mint; the scallops are undercooked but its leeks are overcooked and, consequently, bitter; the Jidori chicken is tasteless. A restaurant like this requires careful execution, which it no longer has. You will be disappointed.

I prefer to have lunch here with the 3 course for one price instead of a la carte. Pick one of 2 to sometimes 3 choices of appetizer, entrée and desert, all excellent choices. The outside seating is lovely. Servers are well educated and food is GREAT !

We try to have a business lunch here at least once a month. The entrees--pork roast / shrimp and scallops were perfectly cooked. But the potatoes that came in the german potatoe salad were almost raw and the brussel sprouts were scorched on the outside and raw inside. The salads were worth a special trip and the desserts were a... More

I wanted to do something special since we were going to celebrate my girlfriends birthday. We were meeting at South Coast Plaza to spend the day together shopping. I knew I wanted to take her to lunch so I started looking into where to go. I looked at what restaurants were at the mall and I found Marche Moderne. I... More

This relatively unknown restaurant is every bit as good as the name states, it is modern and the food amazing in every way. A perfect place to stop at after shopping and indulge in what I consider the best restaurant in the mall.

I took my friend Diana who happens to be a Cordon Bleu Chef here for lunch for her birthday. We were very pleased. Our waiter Michael was training a new waiter Oscar and their service was top notch. Dining here really makes you feel special because of the lovely ambiance and the quality of the food and presentation. We started... More

I haven't been to Marche Moderne in quite some time, but decided to arrange a visit to the French restaurant for out anniversary. I am very glad I did. Everything was just outstanding, both in terms of taste and service. Since the last time I was here, the menu has evolved, and we really emjoyed the option of sampling so... More

The restaurant was quite busy; always a good sign. The menu, food and service were all outstanding. The four of us sat at a very comfortable table in the patio area. We brought our own wine and found the corkage fee to be very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant for friends and couples celebrating an occasion or attending... More

Lovely restaurant. Good food. Pricey but good for special events. It's inside the mall but at least it's easy to find parking.
