Very Good Food in Nice Atmosphere

I saw this restaurant online, and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. There is an extensive drink and food menu. They have small plates as well as full entrees. I tried three small plate items. I had a cup of seafood gumbo. It was on the tame side in terms of spices, but... read more

I can only speak to the cornbread and their famous chicken. I honestly did not know what part of the chicken I was really eating. I did not know if it was an Airline cut of a chicken breast, or a thigh/breast combined together. All I remember was a lot of crust , very little meat, and a small bone!... More

This place is a modern hipster soul food combo. It's always delicious and never disappoints. I love going for the happy hour and splitting the different items with a friend so you can try more! The breakfast is also awesome here :)

Thanks so much for the kind words. We hope to see you back again soon. We will certainly consider kicking up the heat on the Gumbo a notch. More

This would have gotten five stars but the noise level was too high to have normal conversation. Food was very good and los of it. Mac and cheese with crunchy topping was so smooth. The muffuletta sandwich was very close to its original in New Orleans.

For small plates of good southern food I highly recommend Memphis. For $7-9 per plate, I was able to have crab cakes, gumbo, mussels & clams, and a roasted beet salad. Parking is difficult-- small lot and limited street parking--but it opened up more after happy hour.

Thank you for your comments. We are happy to hear you had excellent service but we clearly were off our game with regard to the food items you mentioned and sincerely apologize for this. We have built a reputation of quality food and service for over 20 years and will work hard to correct the lapse in our quality control... More

This is another of those hidden gems in Orange County. Memphis Soul Café & Bar is a smallish restaurant that has those old school dinner table and chairs inside and a nice little covered outside dinning area. The place smells of BBQ and the staff are really nice. All that being said, the reason to visit is lunch. To be... More

Met a girlfriend here for breakfast. Was a delicious twist on some breakfast favorites like eggs Benedict. Bummed we were not able to have a drink due to pregnancy but the cocktail list looked great! Great and attentive service!

I like the menu at this restaurant. I particularly loved the green chili grits. It would have been my pleasure to sample each vegetable on the menu, but my stomach would not allow it. Any California restaurant that has hoppin' john has my respect. Aside from the grits, I had the crab cake hamburger. It was good. The rest of... More

I don't know why I have noticed this cool joint before when in the area. We stopped in for lunch and I was so impressed. From the minute we walked in, the service was great and the staff was helpful and friendly. The dining room is cozy with low lighting, a bar that you can sit up to and eat... More
