Il Fornaio offers fantastic views of the San Diego downtown skyline across the bay. With huge ceilings, every table enjoys a great view. This is not a typical Italian restaurant with the same old preparations. I enjoyed lamb chops with a mint-herb seasoning. It was a nice change from the same old garlic rub that everyone else seems to use.... More

Italian food to die for - the ravioli was awesome and so was the dessert. All of the pasta is made in house and the cheese fresh and delicious. Highly recommended for the food, service and the view at sunset

Went with another family. They were able to accommodate us right away as it was a Monday night. Our waiter, Carlos, was outstanding. He dealt with all the kids in a friendly manner...even taking time to call them by their names he had heard us using. Large portions for kids and good variety. Same for adults. Great food & atmosphere... More

This restaurant is an easy stroll from the Marriott Coronado Island Resort. The views of San Diego Harbor are spectacular. The restaurant is airy, open and full of light ... and life! The food is excellent and the service is very attentive. People in our party enjoyed the salmon, the sea bass and pasta bolognese. All were prepared deliciously and... More

The food was so-so and the view wonderful but the evening was spoilt somewhat by their policy with regard ID and the drinking of alcohol. Hubby and I (mid 60's) had our 25 year old niece with us. Upon ordering a bottle of wine the waiter asked for ID from my niece. She happily handed over her UK driving licence... More

We had a big party and arrived without making a reservation. they accommodated us and even had high chairs for the little ones. I was pleasantly surprised they had coloring sheets and crayons too. Our waiter was super pleasant and spoke interchangeably between English, Spanish and Italian so we all got a thorough presentation of the dishes. They have seafood... More

Not bad... Not great... Just lukewarm uncooked food... It was a busy Saturday evening when we, a party of six adults and two kids, have stopped for dinner at a place famous for Italian cuisine, called Il Fornaio. The service was terrible, we've waited for our food more than one hour. I have to mention that even we've had reservation... More
