The pizza was as good as what we ate when we went to Italy. The grilled seafood with calamari, scallops and shrimp was perfectly tasty. We sat out on the patio with a fantastic view of the harbor and San Diego skyline.

Came here for lunch with our nephew. We had rented a 30 foot sailboat for San Diego Bay and so for lunch went here docking right in front of Il Fornaio. We used to go to their site in Walnut Creek and happy to report it is even better now.

The prices were actually reasonable at this destination restaurant on the water. The service was the best part of the evening. Sarah was our server and did an excellent job. The carppacio appetizer was excellent. The cheese is all fresh from Italy. In fact many of the ingredients are flown in fresh from Italy. I had the Duck Ravioli with... More

The location on Coronado is great - a simple walk from the Marriott. The service was outstanding - attentive and consistent. The food was mixed. Thought the cannelloni was rather bland, but the ravioli was good. Several in the group had the duck - some thought it was good while others thought it a bit dry. Certainly worth a visit.

Great menu selections - sea bass was cooked perfectly, friend's Oso Bucco was delectable, wife's fettuccine with lobster absolutely wonderful. Very wide ranging wine list. When making reservations, ask for a window seat for a beautiful view of SD.

We have been to this restaurant in family for a good week-end lunch, party of 8. We know this brand from the other restaurant in Del Mar which is excellent. I put the two stars because of the view and the furniture and 0 for the service. We ordered calamari appetizers and main courses. I had the cannelloni. The calamari... More

Though not quite as good as it's Northern California parent branches, Il Fornaio maintains consistently good standards, and one can always count on this restaurant for a worthy Italian food. The standout is the view, without question. The restaurant is situated across the bay on Coronado Island from downtown San Diego, with great views of bay and ships passing by.... More

My daughter and I drove down from North County to Il Fornaio in Coronado for Thanksgiving dinner this year and were completely disappointed. We made reservations because we thought that they would be busy. That turned out not to be the case. The restaurant was conservatively 20% full. That was a sign that we should have paid attention too. Even... More

This was by far one of the best Italian restaurants I have ever been to and one of the best restaurants period that I have ever eaten at. Four friends and I went to dinner here and enjoyed the stunning view of downtown San Diego from the restaurants location on Coronado Island. The food was so good I went back... More

This is a large restaurant but the staff provides service more commonly found in small places. The pasta is great as are the appetizers. Our server really hustled, was friendly and most efficient. All in all, a recommendable place that we will return to.
