We booked a window table which gave us great views to downtown San Diego. The minestrone soup was hot and tasty. My sea bass puttanesca was piping hot and delicious, full of flavour.

This was the perfect meal choice for our dinner. The service was great--our waiter was so friendly and had great recommendations. It felt very upscale, yet I did not feel out of place in my jeans. The ambiance was so lovely -- overlooking the water and the lighting was perfect. For under $120, we ordered wine, a soup and salad,... More

Everything about the restaurant was tops. The service was wonderful. The views of San Diego was breath taking. There was an elegance about the restaurant. Indulge in your favorite pasta, sip a glass of great wine and enjoy a tasty desert. Sound good? This is the place you need to enjoy. Gluten free a challenge? Not here. GF menu and entree carefully marked. Service could be tad better but overall, it will be back!

I am not a fan of chains. But Il Fornaio in Coronado CA is an exception, even among restaurants that are not chains. The Italian food and ambiance are authentic and gorgeous . We chose to dine on their outdoor patio overlooking the bay and the San Diego downtown skyline. Awesome! We were particularly impressed to hear discernible music. By... More

I have eaten here many times. Very authentic fresh Italian food. The GM Luca is very personable. The pastas are really good. Loads of variety. I love the chicken salad they were at lunch. The view is really fun. You see the great variety of ships that go by, and people walk their dogs here also. Great people watching.

We had a beautiful view and great service. The food was very good, but perhaps a bit rich. Maybe I'd change my mind if I tried a few more things...

As local San Diegans, we'd been to Il Fornaio Coronado a few times in the past. We looked forward to our visit this time and made a reservation. Unfortunately, we were disappointed and decided we probably wouldn't visit again. PROS: ~Super skyline views of downtown San Diego -- one of the best you'll find from a local restaurant. ~Pleasant ambiance... More
