Diner food with a nostalgic atmosphere! Servers are very friendly and this place is busy most of the time. Pies are delicious!

This is definitely a fun place worth checking out. We went there for lunch and I would not recommend it for lunch fare. They do serve all day breakfast, which now we regret we did not choose since it looked more appetizing. We ordered the chicken sandwich with grilled mushrooms and onions and cheese; the bacon cheeseburger; and a BLT... More

We had breakfast from Clayton's our last day on Coronado Island. The internet reviews were on spot! Veggie omelet with hash browns, chocolate chai tea latte, soy latte, cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, eggs, and sausage was on the order for our gruop. Everything was tasty and great value for the price. Definitely the spot to be at for... More

I had heard about this place before arriving in San Diego. I had heard that it had a great menu and stellar service. We decided to try it out the first morning we were in Coronado. I must say that from the outside it didn't appear to be special. Once we went inside the atmosphere was great. All the staff... More

there was a short wait, 10-15 min. worth it. had bacon, eggs, potatoes & toast. all was cooked as ordered. really like sourdough toast, no vinegary taste, was real sourdough. they were very busy on a wednesday. loved the servers aprons, each one different, probably homemade. would visit again if in area.

Expect to wait for a table and if you have a large group You will need to split up. We went one day for breakfast everything was delicious. I had hue via rancheros and the kiddos got pancakes. This is a true old fashioned diner. We went back one evening to sit at the counter and have pie and milkshakes... More

The title says it all. Is this the "best meal I have ever had at a restaurant"? No. Is this the best meal I have had at a diner? Yes. Apples and oranges. Clayton's serves traditional comfort food and breakfast all day. The place can be packed on weekend mornings, so pick an "off" time if you want breakfast here.... More

The benefit of being a tourist is that, over the course of a month, we ate breakfast in a lot of diners and Clayton's stands out as truly memorable. Genuine 1930's Americana decor give the restaurant an intimate and retro feel, without anything like the tacky, contrived "Johnny Rockets" image you might envision... And the food is excellent. Huge servings... More

This place is a terrific find in Coronado. The decor is nostalgia personified. The seating reminds me of places I went to as a kid in the midwest. The food is plentiful and delicious. Meat loaf better than mom's. Gotta try the berry shake, it's the bomb.

Liked the food, was served fast even though they were busy. Might not want to go if you're claustrophobic, it's a bit cramped, and popular.
