On December 2014 our company enjoyed our annual holiday dinner at 1500 Ocean at Hotel Del Coronado. Simply put: good service, well prepared and great tasting menu and wonderful ambiance overlooking the ice skating arena.

We capped off our 4 day visit to the Del by a reservation at 1500 Ocean. The interior design was modern - in contrast to the 1888 Victorian vibe of the hotel. Waitstaff was attentive and clearly experienced which was a big plus. But there were just so many down sides. I'm pretty sure that the first issue was that... More

Don't get me wrong, we had a great time while eating at this restaurant recently. But for the price and expectations we had, we found some of the dishes a little predictable. We chose the 5 course meal from a fixed price menu, so we got a good sampling. Our server was excellent and was there for our every need.... More

1500 Ocean is located inside the Hotel Del Coronado with both an indoor and outdoor dining area facing the Pacific Ocean and close enough to hear the waves. The food here is upscale seafood centric. Other options are available, but this close to the sea, you really should taste what California coastal seafood is on offer. We started with the... More

The crown room at the Coronado was closed (I think they are only doing breakfast now!?) so I went to 1500 Ocean. Nice view from the patio, although you are behind the tables for the nearby small beach bar. Not sure why they put the cheap bar seats in front of the fancy, upscale restaurant seating, but you can still... More

This is a beautiful restaurant. We loved the quiet intimate setting with the views of the ocean and the food was spectacular. Unfortunately we didn't go there until the last night, but I would have gone there every night.

As a business traveler too often enough I don't venture out and eat outside of the hotel due to workload. If you find yourself lucky to be staying at the Del, you are fortunate enough to have the 1500 Ocean within the hotel. The food was amazing, with a very knowledgeable staff with great suggestions throughout your meal. With all... More

The Hotel Del Coronado is an experience in itself, but the restaurant along the beachfront is the real trip. The setting and sights are magnificent. We had a group sitting outside on a glorious night. Most all went with the "tasting" menu to get the four course experience. My wife and I added the wine pairing - excellent matches of... More

I sat outdoors at one of the “highboy” tabletops and enjoyed spectacular beach and sunset views. (Also watched the Naval helicopters run continuous drills of water rescues, which was pretty cool. Navy base is right there.) Had the chicory and arugula salad and the seared diver scallops with mushroom risotto accompanied by a glass of Chalk Hill Cardonnay, all of... More

This beach front restaurant at the Hotel del Coronado is expensive and worth it. Entrees run $30-$45. We had three adults and two young children (6 years; 18 months), and they were very welcoming with outstanding service. I had seared scallops over the best risotto I've ever tasted -- including Florence, Italy! The only diversion came with frequent helicopter flights... More
