While visiting friends in Coronado, six of us dined at Chez Loma, a very appealing restaurant in a wonderful old house a couple of blocks from the historic Hotel del Coronado. Our server was very knowledgable, helpful and pleasant, giving what we felt were accurate evaluations about our wine selections. Three of us had a crab-crusted halibut fillet that was... More

The restaurant is somewhat small so reservations may be needed at certain times of year. The menu was interesting, utilizing local fresh ingredients, and the food was excellent. It is always nice to have fresh produce in winter. We both enjoyed our meal and appreciated the professionalism of the waitress. This is a perfect choice if you want a finer... More

Four of us had an outstanding meal in this charming Coronado restaurant. My fresh local halibut with crab was absolutely delicious, perfectly prepared, as were the vegetables. My husband loves to order duck and was not disappointed; he thought it was one of the best duck meals he has ever had. Our friends were happy with their choices too. The... More

Elegant service, knowledgeable waitstaff, good wine list. Elegant presentation but the food didn't excel. Caesar salad was bit overpowering but tasty. While scallops are a chef's challenge, mine was more than slightly overlooked. Desert was refreshing and delightful.

The place is a very quaint unpretentious french-Spanish bistro with a lot of personality. There is a warm look and feel to the place. The staff is friendly and comfortable in their place and make well educated inviting recommendations. The wine list is creative, midrange and good value. The food was really good. The salad was the only item not... More

I have to give this restaurant the lowest possible grade due to an inexcusable absence of integrity that should never happen a restaurant with the pretensions this one claims. Said simply, my wife ordered a duck dish, and duck should be served pretty rare and juicy. It arrived literally charred, with black burnt flakes falling off. We complained to the... More

We are sorry to hear that your meal didn't full fill your expectations. Unfortunately the duck dish we are serving at the moment is braised and then roasted to crisp the skin so we are unable to serve it pink. Thank you for your comments as we will make an effort to advice our guests of the cooking method used... More

Business dinner for six of us from out of state based on TA and Yelp...all of us were generally pleased. We had a range of dishes since we were subsidized so got a good sense of the place. Execution was skillful but the menu is straight out of 70s or 80s continental cuisine. Then again, this place seems deliberate and... More

Bething in tourist mecca of Coronado we were unsure what to expect from just reading the menu outside. All in all it was better than expected, but not perfect service. The food was very good and the waiter knowledgable about the wines. The prix fixe menu was a great bargain with my partner and I both liking the choices offered... More

We found Chez Loma 7 yrs ago by accident walking around Coronado's Orange Ave area. This quaint old house turned bistro was such a warm relaxed atmosphere for a romantic dinner with excellent service and even better food. Upon returning 7 yrs later we walked up without a reservation (I still recommend making one for a good table) on a... More

Chez Loma is an inviting bistro offering serious food as an alternative to the many tourist cafes in Coronado. Located just off the main drag of Orange Avenue and only a block or so from the Del Coronado hotel, the restaurant presents a nicely-balanced menu of bistro classics. Good warm bread begins the evening followed by perfectly-dressed salads. Service is... More
