August special 3 courses and wine for 2 $99

Ask for the menu which describes the choices. I went with the Lobster Bisque and Scottish Salmon. The chosen Pinot Noir from Monterey County included in the meal was very good. The soup could have been hotter, but you will use the delicious bread to wipe up every last drop. Husband had the... read more

The restaurant itself looks like an English tudor. There is even a old britishphone booth outside. Being part of the Lawry restaurants they are known for their prime rib. I got the English cut and it was delicious. The prime rib came with a potato and a vegetable. It soup or salad was a separate fee.. They don't seem to... More

Restaurant is Old and Tired. Food and service are mediocre. Entire inside need a redo. We do not recommend.

If you're going out to dinner, the Five Crowns is great. If you just want to go "eat", perhaps a chain would be better. The food is excellent and a great value. The extensive menu has great options if you aren't a beef lover. My prime rib was cooked perfectly and was excellent. My wife's scallops were wonderful. The ice... More

Five Crowns located in Newport Beach is part of the Lawrys Prime Rib chain. This location is set up like an old English pub with dark walls, plush furniture and ornate decorations. They also have an enclosed patio that is bright and airy. The prime rib of course is the specialty. We had the Five crowns cut which is similar... More

I am fully aware that family-owned, throwback-in-time, prime-rib-specialty, can-order-Escoffier-side-sauces dining room that’s been in business for 50 years now doesn’t need my review. But here it is… Some things never change—thankfully. They shouldn’t. It had been 25 years since I last dined at Five Crowns and it was as good as I had remembered it. Simple menu. All the old... Watermelon Gazpacho & Lemon Sorbet has sweet and savory flavors. A nice cool starter for a hot summer day. Rating: 3/5 Garden of Eden Gimlet made with vodka, absinthe, lavender, and honey. It has a refreshing cucumber flavor and had a little bit of sourness on the palate. Rating: 4/5 Stone Fruit Salad is made with grilled peach and summer... More

If you've been through CDM on the PCH in the last 30 plus years, you've passed the iconic Five Crowns. Happy to say that while maintaining the architecture for the most part, they have updated, freshened the restaurant greatly. Had a very satistfying Easter lunch there, and the Prime Rib was superb. The staff on such a busy day, were... More

The Five Crowns holds a special place in our hearts and stomachs because it was the site of my wife and my first date years ago. We had a congenial debate about which restaurant had the best creamed spinach. I argued vigorously for the Berghoff in Chicago, and my future wife argued for the Five Crowns in Corona del Mar.... We celebrated Father's Day with the family. Their prime rib is absolute perfection. As a Lawry's restaurant it is what they are known for and they deliver! We had a variety of dishes and all of them were great. We enjoyed the ambience and excellent service as well.
