Another great Lawrys Prime Rib Place

Five Crowns located in Newport Beach is part of the Lawrys Prime Rib chain. This location is set up like an old English pub with dark walls, plush furniture and ornate decorations. They also have an enclosed patio that is bright and airy. The prime rib of course is the specialty. We had the Five... read more

If you're going out to dinner, the Five Crowns is great. If you just want to go "eat", perhaps a chain would be better. The food is excellent and a great value. The extensive menu has great options if you aren't a beef lover. My prime rib was cooked perfectly and was excellent. My wife's scallops were wonderful. The ice... More

I am fully aware that family-owned, throwback-in-time, prime-rib-specialty, can-order-Escoffier-side-sauces dining room that’s been in business for 50 years now doesn’t need my review. But here it is… Some things never change—thankfully. They shouldn’t. It had been 25 years since I last dined at Five Crowns and it was as good as I had remembered it. Simple menu. All the old... Watermelon Gazpacho & Lemon Sorbet has sweet and savory flavors. A nice cool starter for a hot summer day. Rating: 3/5 Garden of Eden Gimlet made with vodka, absinthe, lavender, and honey. It has a refreshing cucumber flavor and had a little bit of sourness on the palate. Rating: 4/5 Stone Fruit Salad is made with grilled peach and summer... More

If you've been through CDM on the PCH in the last 30 plus years, you've passed the iconic Five Crowns. Happy to say that while maintaining the architecture for the most part, they have updated, freshened the restaurant greatly. Had a very satistfying Easter lunch there, and the Prime Rib was superb. The staff on such a busy day, were... More

The Five Crowns holds a special place in our hearts and stomachs because it was the site of my wife and my first date years ago. We had a congenial debate about which restaurant had the best creamed spinach. I argued vigorously for the Berghoff in Chicago, and my future wife argued for the Five Crowns in Corona del Mar.... We celebrated Father's Day with the family. Their prime rib is absolute perfection. As a Lawry's restaurant it is what they are known for and they deliver! We had a variety of dishes and all of them were great. We enjoyed the ambience and excellent service as well.

We've been to Lawry's many times and love their prime rib. We were very happy that we stumbled upon Five Crowns, which is part of the Lawry's family. The prime rib here is also good (without the Lawry's presentation) as are the sides and drinks. It's a nice location and nice atmosphere. We'll definitely come back.

We went to an early dinner on Mother's Day - so the menu was limited, but not prix fixe. Our table for 4 had filet mignon, lamb, and salmon. The salmon was perfectly cooked, but served with mashed potatoes rather than the polenta indicated on the menu. The lamb was undercooked. The filets were done perfectly (well, maybe a little... Located in Corona Del Mar, this restaurant offers a fantastic menu with outstanding service, in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The prime rib and salmon entrees were absolutely delicious. With a London phone box located near the front entrance, the restaurant atmosphere is very much reminiscent of an upscale pub. Overall, highly recommended for a delightful dining experience!
