Viva Madrid is an extremely popular place, just off the main street. The place is crowded, dark although the atmosphere is friendly and warm. The tapas are varied and we shared many items. I have eaten tapas in a variety of restaurants and I must say that this was not my favorite place. Most of the food was just bland,... More

Think, the tiny back alleys of Barcelona. Dark crowded Spanish bar with Tapas and Flamenco music, and you have the Viva Madrid in Claremont CA. (91711) Right off the village main street (Yale), there is an alley. (you have to look for it) Just inside the alley you will find a wonderful tapas bar. (follow your nose) The food is... More

Food was good, service awesome and price not as bad (especially if you share the inexpensive and tasty tapas). Sangria is good (tried red and pomegranate) and refreshingly fruity.

I stumbled upon this place when I had my first job at 16 yrs old in downtown Claremont. The paella, the tapas, the sangria! I no longer live in CA and I miss this place terribly. I always visit when I am in town. Consistent and delicious food that I crave. When you call nobody ever seems to answer, the... More

I hadn't been to this restaurant in more than five years, but we went spur of the moment and happened to arrive between rushes. Having been to Spain, I can say this is a truly authentic experience. Small plates with plenty of flavor and a fun selection of wines. The prices are really reasonable and it has a fun assortment... More

They have the best lamb chops on their menu. I love tapas and other small plates and this place excels in that regard. The only real drawback is that the restaurant is small and I have had to wait as long as 45-50 minutes several times. But the menu keeps me coming back anyway. Great food.

The food is ok but it is too dark in the restaurant . Very hard to order . Sometimes too much garlic .

My family loved this place, but I thought that it was so-so. The only vegetarian option--the baguette with tomato paste--was only okay. Most people love Viva Madrid, though.

You want this place to have good food. Any food should taste good when the restaurant looks like you are somehow transported to the center of Madrid, not Claremont. But, the food is terrible. I looked forward to the usual Spanish tapas: the tortilla, the shrimp, the patatas, paella. It was all bland and tasteless. The only things that did... More

We have been to Spain and had the real deal and Viva Madrid - for tapas - is the closest facsimile we have found in the new world. We were a party of there and had a wide variety of tapas, along with some very tasty sangria! We did not try the 'mains', as we were after tapas. Some were... More
