I think the Back Abbey has become a Claremont institution because of what I wrote in my title. There is nothing quite like a local establishment, somewhat tucked away in a special spot (in this case in an historic ice house building behind a movie theater and boutique hotel). The selection of beer that is on tap is impressive. The... More

Food was good, crowded with 20 somethings relaxing and having fun. Small but inviting with city history, was the cities ice house. Would definitely recommend it to anyone.

I live in Claremont.... I hate having to jockey for a table at my local burger joint. My husband refuses to play that game. He will only go if it's dead there. I'd eat there a lot more often if that were the case.

We walk to the Back Abbey a couple of times a month to get a beer and the best burger in town. The fries are twice cooked, once in duck fat, are heavenly. They have over 20 beers on tap and the food is consistently good. The wait staff are great working together to give great service even during the... More

Very popular pub in Claremont. Huge beer selection and EXCELLENT burgers. It's usually crowded and noisy but we felt it was worth it.

Fun pub atmosphere with a great selection of Belgian style beers along with tasty burgers makes the Back Abbey worth a visit when you visit Claremont

This building was originally the ice house in the city of Claremont, so its not that large, but they serve great beer and the burgers are always good. They have a good variety of beer both on tap and in the bottle. My suggestion would be to get their early since it can be very crowded.

A quaint place to savor their limited but good selection of food that has diminished just a bit recently. A wonderful place to explore beers you won't find anywhere else. Outside is the best place to be if you don't like noise; inside is fun and lively. It resembles a small European pub and is surely worth a few, maybe... More
